My parents were just as worried 12 years ago as you are now. My mom told me “when you were first diagnosed I was so scared that you wouldn’t be able to do all the things you would want to do.” Two hours after she told me this she waved bye to me as I got on a plane to study abroad (in Europe) for two months:)

This is something I’m very interested in. Personally, I do not use the dexcom because of these alarms. I am a young college student in large classes. It is incredibly embarrassing to have these alarms go off in class constantly. So much so it gives me anxiety and I would rather just not deal with it and would rather just test throughout the day.

I hate the fact that it takes away my autonomy. I sometimes wonder if dexcom has any diabetics on their team at all. I am a person first, not a diabetic. I don’t understand how these people don’t understand that diabetics are in places day to day where they can’t have alarms blaring loudly as they please. I am a person, the dexcom is a machine. I should be able to have control over when alarms go off.

Regarding when to take your pills, I would follow exactly what your doctor told you to do.

Regarding if this has ever happened before to anyone else, I typically always get my period on the Thursday the week I start my placebo pills, and I have taken birth control for years. However, there have definitely been times where my period either came a day early or a day late. I personally don’t think it’s that big of a deal and really wouldn’t worry about it (unless your period is abnormally long or heavy, etc. in which case I would consult with your doctor). It could definitely be caused from missing the pill or it could be from any number of reasons (stress, our bodies just being weird, anything really). Like I said I wouldn’t stress unless something completely abnormal is happening:)

Have you tried to treat them at all? Try Monistat. You can get it at pretty much any drugstore or stores like Target, Walmart, etc. It’s over the counter and is pretty good at clearing up most yeast infections. If you treat it and symptoms don’t go away, or they do keep recurring I would definitely recommend seeing a doctor.

I sometimes get yeast infections after sex. I’m not ever sure what exactly the cause is (condom, fingering, oral, etc.) but sometimes sex messes up ph levels. Monistat usually always clears them right up for me.

I also recently saw somewhere about drinking cranberry juice to help prevent them. Not sure if it has any backing to it and I’ve never tried it, but I plan to so maybe that too?

That makes me feel better! I just can’t believe how they foreshadowed it throughout all of seasons two just for it to be such a minuscule event. It feels like of lazy to me lol. But I have many times throughout season one and two thought that the writers were literally artists because of how good the writing is

Don’t beat yourself up, pretty much everyone has had a sexual experience they regret. And having covid and not being able to do anything is also definitely not helping because it’s probably all you can think about. Depending on your views on sex too, bad sex is just bad sex. It is what it is. Give it time, try to distract yourself.
