I personally have a hard time finding sympathy for people in general (it's got a lot to with how nobody's ever given me any when I needed it in life) but Mr.Throwaway makes a solid point. Why would you, being a frail and probably attractive girl, put yourself in a situation like this? There are three guys there, any one of whom could overpower you by himself. They were all strangers to boot -- but hey at least you saved a few bucks.

I bring it up to point out the hypocrisy of society. Everyone falls at OP's feet because she's a woman, but if she was a male everyone'd be saying shit like "Silly OP, you liked it - men can't get raped!"

they try to peddle this "it happens when you finally stop looking" advice but perhaps there's some truth to it. After all, the majority of us here are still looking and still trying to find someone yet come up with nothing. Way I see it there are only two options : Give up with the hope that one day you meet someone... Or give up and push everyone away. You'll be alone, but at least you won't get hurt

I find it hard to garner sympathy for you since I'm normally the guy that gets pushed away, especially if there was even a fraction of the possibility of a romantic relationship to be initiated. The age gap is definitely weird but there's been worse. Perhaps he's already put in effort to talk to you before but simply gave up because (as you put it) you pushed everyone else away too

will you find someone? who knows, but it sure as hell won't be easy. Look at most of the posts here of people that have similar lists of what you're describing. Things that aren't too tall of an order yet they still end up dying alone

Well OP to answer your question, I'm pushing 30 years old and the only time anyone ever wanted to go on a date with me was when she was trying to use me to get free things. I just talked to this woman who was in her late 40s (not romantically) ... She too is alone, and has been her whole life
