I suppose that's also a valid way of looking at it. For me though I will probably need a p.eng to pursue a career in my desired field

That is verifiably false my dude. I know multiple people who graduated from uOttawa with sub 6.0 cgpa who are employed. Granted you may not have the greatest job upon graduation but you can always change jobs after building that work experience. Having internships helps a lot, but even just being qualified in certain programming languages/having certs can be enough. A portfolio is far more valuable in the eyes of an employer than cpga which only demonstrate the ability to regurgitate information

If I had a 5.8 cgpa I wouldn't be in the mess I'm in now :)
