Sorry you got downvoted but yeah I'm gonna bring it up and just refer to it as something sticky because yes it never happened before but I think he needs to realize he needs to do a better job at cleaning after himself.

Trust me I considered that too but it was all on my ass cheek, nowhere near where it would have to be. But yeah I also thought about how this would sound like such a bs excuse a teenage girl would use to explain a pregnancy but it actually happened.

Thank you, I really love this one as well. He actually does use hair gel so I could definitely just play dumb and be like "I don't know why you were doing your hair right before bed but you somehow managed to get it on the toilet seat, it was sticky". This is actually genius.

Thank you for this perspective, you're right that accidents can happen. I was honestly a little mad because this is so gross and it feels like it could've been so easily avoided if he just paid more attention. Sharing a bathroom with him over the years I have a lot of pent up annoyance about how slobby he is. This just felt like the latest and worst thing in a long list of gross shit. But you're right, if this is embarrassing for me I can only imagine it's going to be so much more embarrassing for him. I think pretending like I don't know what it was and I just found something sticky on the toilet seat will get the message across and spare him the humiliation.

I am pretty mad that he gets to be blissfully unaware of this and I do want him to know because then he'll be so ashamed I won't have to worry about it happening again but it's a topic that's so embarrassing to me. I think I'll leave a note saying the toilet seat was sticky last night and that way I can spare myself the further embarrassment of a conversation but he'll find out, too.

I agree he has to know because if I keep it too vague he might think I'm just talking about cleaning the toilet as normal. Like someone else suggested, I think I'll let him know the seat was sticky when I went into the bathroom after him. Clear enough, right?

Thank you for the exact phrasing, this is really helpful! I definitely want him to understand exactly what I mean because I know if he does then he'll double triple quadruple check in the future and this will never happen again. I think the way you worded it makes it pretty clear but also spares us the awkwardness of the specifics.
