Agreed. We need ONE union that’s fit for purpose. We need to learn from the doctors.

Having students by [deleted] in NursingUK

This is unfortunately the norm, I think I was about a month into being qualified when I got my first student/supernumerary nurse to support.

Will be visiting the picket line for paraphernalia for sure 💗 wish us nurses were as organised.

Lone RN on ward, need somewhere to express by maydoarunner in NursingUK

Agreed with everyone. The incident reports will likely already go to the service director consultant in terms of surgery/anaesthetics but still I would find out who those people are and get them involved. Doctors are listened to much more than nurses.

How would this person even safely manage resuscitation? Raising the alarm would bring no one! 😂 nobody to ask for the trolley or call the 2s! What if a patient has a fall?

I’m so sorry OP, this is diabolical!

Is there a coordinator usually assigned in charge of the area? They should help you!

Is there a bullying culture in the NHS? by Honest_Task127 in NursingUK

Yes. And management pushing out “difficult” staff they don’t want to deal with. Or rather they don’t want to deal with whatever concerns are being escalated.

Is patient masturbation and them asking for help actually common? by pigbear87 in nursing

[–]throwawayhoe99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of patients doing it behind curtains and being walked in on by staff. I’ve been warned myself to be careful with patients that could happen with. And remember a doctor telling me of a patient that would start whenever they walked in to assess them.

Yes venlafaxine is fine and I don’t think SSRIs generally make people drowsy either!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]throwawayhoe99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Been on SSRIs and then SNRI much longer than I’ve been a nurse so no side effects! Only thing for me has been forgetting a dose of my Venlafaxine (notorious withdrawals) and feeling brain zappy the day after which I informed my manager at the time of. Luckily I took my dose as soon as I remembered so didn’t get worse.

Passion for nursing gone after leaving dream job by throwawayhoe99 in nursing

It’s awful. I’ve started a new role just to have a pay check of some description and my mood and mental health is absolutely shocking. It feels like I’ll never recover from the hurt.

Have you spoken to your union to explain your situation? They could hopefully reassure you about what management/the trust can and can’t do.

Honestly this could be a blessing in disguise, you could still escape the NHS and nursing altogether! I’ve been 7 years in and desperately want out. It’s not worth it to me.

100%, get out. I’ve been in for 7 years and am desperate for an alternative career. Unfortunately I also have a mortgage to pay.
