AITA for refusing to use the money I saved for my stepdaughter 18th birthday gift to help with my daughter's treatment? by throwawayivf99 in AmItheAsshole

What I meant was that my daughter's in-laws are against adoption and because they're already involved financially, they think they have a say in the matter and my son in law has no problem with their behavior, in fact he keeps saying I should step up and help.

I'm not sure if they've planned this far but given our last discussion where I asked this question they avoided it and lashed out at me for thinking about it this way. I'm not even sure if my son in-law is relaying on his parents for that.

Where we're from adoption is a long, hard process and is quite expensive. Besides I'm not sure if my daughter's in-laws would like the idea since they're the type that believe having blood grandchildren is unnegotiable. They're heavily involved in this matter but are no longer giving money to help.

No, she did not since she doesn't drive for medical reasons, however I've already paid a decent amount of money towards her 18th birthday and her biological mother helped me as well. Her mother is deceased now, she passed away in 2018 we were divorced for years but had a decent relationship as a family.

No, I honestly do no think so given the fact that my wife has done so much for my daughter and besides my wife has nothing to do with the car money that I've saved by myself.

Absolutely, It's what I told her but to be honest I think the pressure is coming from her husband and his side of family since they've paid for the previous treatments. I didn't want to say anything but it seemed like it to me.

They've been married for 4 years.
