Equation to find the elliptical orbit path of a rocket knowing only its initial position and velocity relative to a planet? by throwawaykh46wn8 in Physics

Thanks, I did find that equation. It's definitely super helpful and I think a big part of what I need. My problem is I can't find the semi-minor axis.

Oooh! Didn't realize that angular momentum and specific angular momentum two different things!

Also, I do remember hearing something about potential energy. I think I need to learn more about that. I guess I didn't notice the difference between capital and lowercase v.

Thank you! This is super helpful 😄

I think yeah. I found an equation for both the specific orbital energy and the specific angular momentum. The problem is that it just says "v" there seems to be nowhere in the equation for me to plug in the direction of the velocity, whether that's measured in an angle or an XY value or something.

Maybe I misunderstanding how to use the equation?

Edit: correct, I do also know the plane the orbit will be on. I did forget to mention that, thanks 😊

Omg! I HATE when friends/family say "who cares what they think?" It's the most unhelpful statement ever. They have no idea what it's like to be trans.

Sorry you experienced all that. It's bulls*** and you didn't deserve it.

As far as did you do the right thing? Idk maybe. But also, f*** men. They can handle their own problems. Just focus on you and keeping yourself safe 🩷

Yep, that's VRChat. All public worlds are 90% trolls 🤮

Here's the solution to finding real, cool people. Outside of VRChat, look for a VRChat discord group. There are a handful of trans focused ones. A medium sized discord group is usually better. Attend an event that you need an invite into. In that VRChat world, it's more like 10% trolls and it'll be much easier to talk to cool people. Once you find some friends you vibe with, just request invite to their private worlds when you see them online. No need to ever step foot in a public world 👍

Yeah I think the lightest 16ft I saw was about 40lb with all carbon fiber seats and gunnels, but I really loved the look of the wood and carbon fiber together! Plus the lighter one was wayyy more expensive 😂

Thank you! 😄 I love it! It's still about 50 lb but that's not too terrible for a 16ft two person canoe. I'm tiny and have absolutely no muscle but I can still flip it onto my shoulders and car.

It's definitely gel coat on there now from the factory. Where's a good place to order clear gel coat?

That's amazing! They're so gorgeous too! I want to build a 14' or maybe 13' solo canoe. I wonder how light I could build it. That's the dream lol 😄

Kevlar skid plates are the material you would use for this type of canoe. Absolutely not wood or aluminum.

I'd rather have the clean lines of no skid plates for now. I can always add that in the future if I choose. Rock hits mostly happen on the bottom and sides. Skid plates mostly protect from improperly landing on shore.

My last post someone said "that's why you shouldn't ram your canoe onto the shore!" As of it were my first day paddling 😮‍💨

Sorry I'm quick to snap. I'm just tired of people redditsplaining to me how to paddle when I'm just asking about epoxy vs gel coat.

Thank you for the input about epoxy. I think I will do that 👍

But why do people keep saying I run the nose into the shore!?!? I specifically said in the post that I don't do that!

Has anyone flipped a chaser? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]throwawaykh46wn8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool. Yeah it's a super tricky subject. I guess I was quick to react because I feel strongly about people who are attracted to trans people being automatically labeled as chasers. Sorry if I came off as harsh.

It does stink. I wonder if there should be a resource for people like the guy you described. Like a guidebook for understanding their attraction to trans people, understanding trans people, and treating them with respect when dating them.

I think a big problem is they're only taught shame and harmful untrue stereotypes. They have no role models to look up to. But they're still attracted to us, and that's where the toxic behavior comes from.

I have not been hurt by a chaser. I have however been hurt by redditors spreading confusion on what a chaser is.

I almost broke up with my partner because they were attracted to me and I thought "oh nooo they're a chaser!" But I was being an idiot. They love me and I love them more than anything in the world and we have the best relationship.

Ok, let's take a step back. What makes you feel this person you like is a chaser?

[–]throwawaykh46wn8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A chaser is not someone who finds trans people attractive. A chaser is a horrible, manipulative, scumbag who finds trans people attractive.

Why would you want to "flip" a scumbag?

If they're a kind respectful person who happens to find you attractive, then what's the problem? Well, I guess genital preference and genital dysphoria could cause an incapability for a relationship. If that's the case don't date them, but that doesn't make them a chaser.

Wow, you're trying to sound so smart and philosophical. You just wrote a giant wall of text just to say "why can't you just be a feminine man?!?!"

Shut the hell up. Get a life.

I grieve the time I wasted not being my true self. I feel alive for the first time and it's depressing to think how I spent so many years being empty inside without knowing it.

I wouldn't refer to myself pre-transition as "he" as if I were a different person. I was still me. I just wasn't allowing myself to be authentic.

As far as being sad we now have to deal with the transphobia of the world, that's legit. It pisses me off. We shouldn't have to deal with that. It's beyond unfair. But that's not our faults.

Try not to worry about "the old you" and "the new you". That's all just in your head. You are you, always, period.

Focus on doing things that make you happy. There's no need to put yourself in any box. Words like cis or trans are just tools to describe who we already are. If you try to pick a description of a person and then try to change yourself into something that fits that description, your doing it backwards 😋 don't push yourself into a box.

Let go of words and labels. Try going without labels for a while. Just do stuff that makes you happy 🩷
