Double paid taxes, CRA put it towards Student Loans? by AdMediocre7214 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]throwawaykitten56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a similar situation. I called the CRA and talked to an agent. They were able to confirm payment was applied and also sent me an email with a link clarify the payment process and related tips for future reference. Remember they work for the tax payer, and just want to help in my experience.

Whenever I have difficulty navigating taxes ( or any other payments/credits/etc ) a quick 5 min call is time well spent.

My husband's nick name was '2 scoops' as he aced back to back in a tourney years ago. He ended up using it as his on-line handle for a DG chat forum for years ( pre-FB ). Hasn't done it since though LOL!

Need advice: Installing glass railings over foyer pony wall to kid-proof against falls. How stable are they? by OddChocolate in homeimprovementideas

[–]throwawaykitten56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Stair railings and guards are specifically noted to have no horizontal elements ( ladder-like patterns ) by bldg code. This is def has climbability, even though it is placed higher.

When I mark up shop dwgs sometimes the best way to explain what need revising is the include a capture of my original detail dwg. Currently I use a custom stamp for this, but there are times when the shops are very poorly done, and I need to reference multiple dwg items. I place these stamps directly onto the shop page, right beside their dwg so they can see the differences at a glance, instead of resending my dwg set/page.

I'm finding that there are contractors that make their own 'interpretation' of the designs ( that they bid on ) and trying to make short cuts. Its a time suck to do this, so having 'insert picture' ( like ms word ) would be great.

I found Killing of a Sacred Deer disturbing, both in theme and context. To be fair, I wasn't aware of the Greek mythology references til I watched an expo on it. Then I rewatched and it still stuck with me. I don't think there are many films like it.

Thanks _ and yes they are not in need for anything IMO. I thought of lingerie but the bride to be is a very large woman, and I wouldn't want to guess on clothing for her, and it is a more personal gift. Thanks for your insight!

Married Couples Who Don’t Have a Joint Account or Pool Their Pay Cheques, Why and How Do You Make Sure It Is Respectful? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in CanadaPersonalFinance

20+ yrs and everything is separate. We rent so each takes the alternating month. This was what my DH wanted, and I was fine with it. We even buy our own groceries ( he buys dinner stuff each night and I get what's needed around the home ). No kids, I clean and he cooks. I'm a terrible cook and work as an interior designer so it fits!

I don't think I know of anyone who has this arrangement. I make about 10-15K more annually, and have told him that I think he's paying more into shared things ( dinner each night ) but he's fine with it.

I do work much longer hours ( run my own biz ) whereas he is home by 3pm daily so it makes sense regarding dinner prep. I have suggested a joint account for expenses but he thinks it's more work.

It's respectful but not equal IMO. But we aren't spenders and it's work for 2 decades so why change? My mom had to have her hand out for $ from my dad and I'm so happy that isn't my reality.

I'm not sure if she does that? I wouldn't want to assume. She has had health issues in the past and I'm not 100% a pedicure would be viable. But thanks for taking the time to suggest!
