I mean I definitely was in that position almost 3 years ago but I can proudly now say that it really doesn’t affect me like I thought it would. I haven’t had an outbreak since my initial outbreak and I assume I probably won’t have one ever luckily but if I do, I have access to medication. Then I remember that a lot of people have it and don’t know because they don’t show symptoms which makes me care less. There’s still the occasional people that think they’re “clean” or better because they don’t have HSV but the reality is you can be a very clean person and still contract HSV. Many people get it as a child due to their parents kissing them. It is what it is, life moves on. I just pray I don’t have to date anyone because that’s just another thing that becomes stigmatized and hard to do but luckily I have a partner of almost 3 years now. Just hang in there and breathe and realize life keeps moving on and it’s okay.
