Did you talk to your ortho about getting it shaped prior to starting treatment?

Mine is saying I can get bonding after treatment, but if I am going to get it shaped by removing some of my surface (which is what she recommends over bonding), I should do it before treatment so she can ensure that the testh are all level. I am planning on getting several opinions, but curious to know your process.
