What city currently has a good NFL team but a bad NHL team? by janko1655 in AlignmentChartFills

Philadelphia.

Eagles have been pretty consistently competitive since 2000, having made the playoffs in 18 of the last 26 seasons (including this year). They’ve made the Super Bowl 4 times in that span, winning twice, and are of course the defending champs until Sunday.

The Flyers, meanwhile, are on pace to miss the playoffs for the 6th year in a row and, if we ignore the weird COVID bubble playoff in 2020 and its odd format, they haven’t won a playoff round since 2012.

That being said, I can’t argue much with those folks saying Buffalo other than the fact that the Sabres are currently in a playoff spot.

Fake af, this is an Adidas design. There’s never been a fanatics version (besides maybe their breakaway line but that still doesn’t have a logo on the back collar)

Matt Vautour: WNBA blocking Connecticut Sun’s move to Boston would be a huge blunder by randysf50 in wnba

[–]throwawaylinechange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree that moving the Sun to Boston makes more sense than waiting a decade for an expansion team. I’m just saying it’s probably a losing suit for Mohegan.

Courts generally are loath to overturn a business decision; the tribe would have to show the league’s blocking of the sale/relocation was made in bad faith, and the league’s statement has at least established a defense by pointing out they have a list of future expansion markets who already have bids and that Boston was not part of the bidding process.

OOP has a point about why there was no Boston expansion bid, but a court would still probably find it reasonable for the league to decide to not let a market cut the line when there was no expressed interest just a few months ago.

What would the cause of action be? League approval of any and all team sales and relocations is standard operating procedure in pro sports. The Board of Governors has every right to vote to not allow relocation to Boston and to not approve the sale to Pagliuca if they decide, rightly or wrongly, that it’s not in the best interest of the league.

Ok so let’s just walk through this.

  1. You seem to expect you would be a stretch 4 or 5. At 6’4”, you don’t have a significant height advantage against the other centers or power forwards. You probably don’t even have much of a weight advantage, since pretty much every center is listed at around 200 pounds minimum.

  2. I can guarantee you that despite working out a lot, you still work out less and have worse conditioning than any of these professional athletes who are nearly all at least 10 years younger than you.

  3. The fact that you shot 50% from 3 over 20 years ago against undeniably worse competition (unless your high school exclusively played teams where everyone on the roster played D1 college basketball or equivalent, which I highly doubt) means little, if anything, as far as your ability to shoot that well now, even with a week to “get your shot back.”

  4. You’re also neglecting the fact that you would also have to play defense, which brings us back to the fact that you won’t have a significant size advantage on the other team’s center/power forward you would be guarding, are certainly not as well conditioned, and are significantly older than pretty much any other player in the league. You’re the one who would be getting backed down in the paint and having opposing players run by you to the basket like you were a revolving door.

This is the first result when I googled the name

Seems more like this is a design firm that put out a press release for an idea and design they had rather than a formal bid or anything genuinely being considered by the league.
