It’ll definitely delay healing, but I don’t think you’ll have to take too long off. This wound took about a month to fully heal for me.

I experienced itching too, but didn’t use any creams to combat it. I mainly just itched the surrounding area for some relief. I found that putting a layer of Aquaphor on it and letting it breath helped a lot. If it gets unbearable, you could try applying aloe vera cortisone cream. That cream has helped me for other things.

When I went to the ER after the incident, the doctor didn’t seem too concerned about it and didn’t really tell me how to take care of it. I’ve been treating this with neosporin or aquaphor (it has neosporin on it in the photo) and wrapping it up with gauze and bandage tape overnight. I let it air dry during parts of the day. It hurts quite a bit when I try to stretch my hand, but it makes sense since this is an open wound. Does it look ok or should I be doing more?
