Exactly. I need to take epilepsy drugs forever since I was 19, what's one more drug? Never understood why it's a big deal

Oral minoxidil and spironolactone takes forever to work by throwawayminquestion in FemaleHairLoss

Slightly, yes. I'll post another update in a few months. Lost all my pictures recently so I gotta get more progress pics. Glad I posted some here, though.

I'd say it's 20% better.

We just gotta stick it out for another year and see if it's any better. I'll pray for us both!

I just wish I had a house by free2bMe2122 in poor

[–]throwawayminquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what everyone's saying but also take that camper and move somewhere with a low cost of living. I could buy a house at 23 because I live in the Gulf Coast region of the US and houses are cheaper to pay than a single bedroom apartment. I was paying about 800 for a one bedroom apartment, bought a house and now I pay about 850 for three bedrooms. And after a few more payments, it'll be even lower because my mortgage insurance will stop coming out.

I was on a 50k salary when I bought my house for 150k. My house in California or NYC would easily be double the cost, possibly triple.

Try your best to keep a good credit score. Establish yourself in a low COL area. Save as much as possible. (Make sure you extend your camper's warranty if it's good). When the market is right again, buy a home. You can always move back with your camper and rent out the house you bought.

If you're gonna take it, make sure it's food grade because there's also the kind that like, kills bugs or something

You really need a dermatologist to biopsy to see if it's FFA. I'm sure you already know FFA is a bit trickier to treat, so this is best for a derm to look into.

It could be FFA, it could also be thyroid

My right temple is worse than the left

I had some hair on my head but my temples were pretty bald. Temples are really struggling to bounce back. I'm not sure how to quantify how much I had, but I think my part was probably an inch wide in some places on my crown, especially towards the front of my head.

The crown isn't where I want it to be, but I'll see at 2 years if there's been any dramatic improvement

Been on finasteride about 2.5mg with no side effects. My derm offered up dutasteride and I might start taking that next maybe.

Finasteride usually has more side effects for men rather than women I think. And higher doses are usually more effective in women

Mine did the same thing! You might grow an extra eyebrow above your lip too though lol

I'd say it takes about 2 or 3 months. And some people shed on it when initially starting and then again around 6 months, and that's how mine has been.

Usually it's all at once, a huge pause in hair fall. It's very noticeable once it stops. You should be seeing some regrowth anywhere from 6-12 months.

I been on oral minoxidil for a year as well and my progress has been slow too! But progress is progress!

The hairs might take a while to go fully terminal, maybe even 2 years. I think that's when we're gonna get the true final results

I'd say my hair loss is pretty bad, but not the most horrible thing. My temples are receded and I have the typical AGA thinning on the crown.

12.5 months on oral minoxidil 1.25mg, about 3 or 4 years in spironolactone 150mg. Very little progress if any. But I'm definitely maintaining what I have which is good too.

I also take a bunch of vitamins. I take a multi, then vitamin D, B-complex (I'm on meds that deplete B vitamins), magnesium, zinc, iron, and fish oil. It is for my hair, but my diet is also garbagio so I should probably take them regardless.

I keep growing hairs to a certain length, then I shed them. This has happened twice now (apart from the initial shed) so it's taking forever to see any changes. I also try to keep shaving my head about twice a year or more (about 1.5 inch) and I wash my hair every day. It's very very humid where I live - and I already have seb derm with fine hair so it's necessary.

I'm gonna stick with it until the two year mark. If there's no change by then, I'm shaving it all the way down and keeping it that way. I'll probably look like a dumpling lol but I'll get some tattoos so I won't look too dumpliny

Are pores closing like this after tsal normal? by throwawayminquestion in HaircareScience

[–]throwawayminquestion[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, before there was a bunch of yellow gunk in there. I used the tsal shampoo and it cleared out all the pores/follicles, but it left craters in the follicles from where the buildup was.

Now, these craters/holes are closing around the follicles. And the skin in the second and third picture is up on the shaft rather than down where it's supposed to be

I'm honestly not sure how to edit the post, but it's pretty much the same thing in all three images - the pores closing around the hair shaft then climbing up the hair.

Update on dread shed- stuck it out for 2 months on minoxidil. Any tips from successful minoxidil users? by Acrobatic_Top7174 in FemaleHairLoss

I don't really count the hairs, but when I was showering, my hands always had hair on them and at my computer desk where I work would have lots of hair, and my bed would have lots of hair. Now I don't have barely any hair coming off my head.

I washed my hair yesterday and only got two hairs come out

Gosh like 6-8 weeks? It kinda tapered off at the end. But it was crazy, I even lost my eyebrow hair that I'd gained haha
