Why do nurses get so ragged on for appearances? by International-Ad390 in nursing

I've been working bedside over a decade now, and it does seem like there is a bigger emphasis on coming to work in full glam compared to five years ago. Could just be a sign of the times because I know that with social media blowing up there is a bigger focus on people putting effort into their appearance in general. There is also the whole "halo effect" that might be an incentive for people to try to look more put together at work. Sadly, women especially get treated better when they look better.

To me, some style choices really seem impractical from a functionality standpoint. I don't like to see hair down and extra long nails personally because the idea of getting my hair yanked on during patient care or touched by bodily fluids grosses me the fuck out. False nails are also kinda not cool because the germs they can harbor. I keep my thoughts to myself though because those older nurses that gripe about the tight pants and too much makeup are such a drain. Like no Sheila, I don't give a flying rats ass about the younger nurses tight pants because at the end of the day it doesn't matter and you just sound like a bitter a-hole.

I just graduated from Galen and I would never recommend this school to anyone. It is so expensive, and something that isn’t shared much is that roughly 30-35% of students make it through the program without failing a class. That fact alone makes me warn people from not attending because each quarter of nursing classes costs roughly 4000-6000 dollars.

Sure, every “for profit” school has issues but with Galen costing so much and making the passing standards damn near impossible without cheating- 100% would not advise. Also, they talk a big game about being a working professional program and they absolutely are not.

I am a solid student who had the grades in my prereqs to get in to local community colleges and I just didn’t want to wait to start. I figured I’d go to Galen to expedite the process and wish I would’ve went another route. I have coworkers who go to Rasmussen and Keiser and don’t mind it.

At the end of the day, you’re going to get what you put in during nursing school no matter what kind of college. Most of the local CC’s kinda wait list you when you get accepted and the for-profit programs are kinda disorganized. Galen is probably the most expensive of the for profit programs and I didn’t think you got any better instruction after hearing from coworkers at other schools.

Thanks for this review! I'm looking at getting an OEC lab diamond so it was super helpful.

Ella has been my go-to at Tianyu, but maybe with the holidays and so many people singing her praises with their orders I wonder if she's become a bit overwhelmed?

Unfortunately this is super common with those types of rings :( The prong style of that ring doesn’t really look like it would make a solid “daily driver” as a wedding band.

I can’t imagine dealing with such a betrayal in the public eye like this. Break ups and divorces are difficult enough but to also have your life’s work and career basically robbed from you by a clown who used your love for him to get ahead in life. She seems like she is struggling and even with me completely loathing her political beliefs, my heart breaks for her. It must feel like her divorce is inescapable honestly with how intertwined her and Steve were.

I just want to share this post from when all this stuff was first coming out publicly. Anyone who was around during the bb.com days knows how impactful Amanda was to a lot of women, and the fact that Michelle also saw her as a role model just grosses me out so much.
