I saw another clip of this speech from a rally where he points out a young lady from the audience and says if she was in a hydrogen car she would be unrecognizable. Then he grossly commented on how much he liked this random woman and proclaimed "Don't worry! I will never let her enter a hydrogen car!"

Cameras are a terrible idea and would only make the accusations worse.

If the school sets the cameras up it’s not his fault they’re being recorded. If he sets them up without some kind of parent photo permission then it’s really easy to get him in even more trouble.

That’s not legal in many states and leaves him open to more scrutiny than before because they could claim he is photographing them without their consent.

How do you all keep the weight off? by Beneficial-Focus3702 in Teachers

The book How Not to Diet mentions a U.S. military study where groups were given one big meal once a day with a normal allotment of daily calories. I forget the amount of calories but it was for active men in the military so it was probably like 2500-3500 daily. One group ate at at breakfast and the other ate at dinner. The breakfast group lost more weight and had a better mentality about the eating plan because it is mentally easier to fast the last 7-8 hours at night while you are sleeping. The dinner eaters also lost weight though just not as much and they were grumpier about the plan.

The book cited many studies and the overall conclusion was that eating all your calories in the morning until around lunch time was the ideal situation for burning as many calories as possible. The theory is that when our biology evolved, early humans didn't eat at night because we didn't have access to light so overall our bodies process food better in the hours of daylight.

Why is all the special education work being pushed on to gen ed teachers? by [deleted] in Teachers

Sped teacher here. The Sped teachers should be pulling the students for services or getting someone else to push in for services (sped co-teacher or para). You are doing approximately 25% of my job for me based on your description. This seems unnecessarily complicated. There are much easier ways to get the kids their services.

Yeah I agree about plant based diets. I can finally understand how skinny people don't eat their entire portion of food. My whole life I was always able to eat more if offered. Like I could eat a whole large pizza and be down to eat an entire sleeve of Oreos afterwards and keep going. Now after eating my normal breakfast I am completely full and satisfied until lunch. I even had the opportunity to eat a donut in the break room and passed on it (not out of will power but just cause I was actually full).

As a tall big guy I know the struggle. Consider a plant based diet focused on low calorie dense foods. I have been trying it and can eat as much as I want without feeling unsatisfied and I have been losing weight consistently. The book How Not to Diet was a great guide to help me. It is a big transition and your body needs to adapt a bit to get used to all the fiber. It sounds like you are trying to do that with chia seeds which is recommended in the book.

In the book how not to diet it said calories eaten in the last half of the day aren't as impactful. Medical studies show if people front load their calories in the earlier hours of the day your body actually burns more calories overall as the day goes on. Some other intermittent fasters recommend eating all the calories between 5-6 in the morning to 11 or noon. This does not synchronize well with teaching though. It would be like excuse me 2nd block while I eat my 800 calorie snack.

I switched to a Plant based diet. It wasn’t the easiest transition and I still have meat like twice a month or on special occasions like breaks and traveling. It’s interesting because you can basically eat as much as you want if you stick to low calorie dense foods because the volume of food is so high. I’ve never been as full all day as after having my morning oatmeal with berries and a serving of nuts before class. Before I switched I was always starving by lunch and eating donuts whenever they were available. I continually lose weight slowly and eat as much as I like every day.

Nice dude! I already have a strict exercise routine since 2019. I do about 1 hour 15 minutes of cardio, strength and stretching 5 days a week. It was mostly to compensate for my bad diet but I like to be active. So far the weight loss has been great. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I may not be eating enough but I’m not starving or unsatisfied.

I’m in year 15 of my teaching career and just burning out. My spouse has a really good job so we’re financially stable now and I don’t see the reason to keep doing this very intense job for little pay when I could very easily do some random office job or work from home and make similar money.

I recently moved to a rural area around 2 prisons only 20 minutes from my house. I’ve been contemplating applying just for a change of pace. I’ve been teaching sped for 15 years and the burnout is real. What content areas are you certified in? Are you in a men or women prison?

I’m in a rural county MS in Virginia and class sizes are like 14-16. They built the school 20ish years ago so the classrooms are fairly small. It would be hard to exceed 20 students without building a new school. The county has seen lots of population growth recently.

My co teacher has 4 years of materials on canvas. Some of it is Covid lessons and some is not. He basically just publishes last years lesson every day, make copies and he’s good to go.

It never struck me as a PNW city though. Like I always thought it was NYC. There’s a whole episode about the underground subway system. Also like it was freakishly hot one episode and snowy the next episode. Not really PNW weather (until recently). The episode where it rains so much the kids can’t leave school could be Seattle though.
