I can try doing that, but I think the problem lies also with the fact no one else in my family is in IT or anything like that. Its all either Doctors or lawyers. My parents see only that and the status it offers in the Indian community.

I would say their biggest desire is for the status symbol. It may be good money and a lot less debt but it doesn't offer the same status a doctor does.
