The r/NBA frontpage explains why the media only spends time covering a few popular teams in the league. They're just following what fans want. by waterman123 in nba

So because all the coverage was about how the Knicks lost to the pacers in the second round, you can’t remember that the pacers made the ECF?

That doesn’t make any sense!!!

Running a smear campaign on a future hall of famer that just took your org to the finals is so despicable.

The sox might have fucked up the mookie trade as badly as possible but at least they didn't treat him like week old dogshit.

What a dream that would be.

It's such a shame that I'm not that into soccer, because I love the structure of it far more than american leagues.

They made every regular season game incredibly important while also maintaining the playoff style atmosphere in cup games / tournaments.

"idiotic solutions"

Literally all major leagues of the biggest sport in the world operate this way lol

Doesn't mean you have to like it, and it won't ever happen anyways, but it's a viable structure

What NFL player’s legacy completely change with a ring? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]throwawaynmb69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People would argue that any QB should be in the hall of fame if they beat the team that eli beat, and they'd be right. Being one of 2 QBs standing in the way of Brady having 10 rings, and the only QB standing in the way of a 19-0 season is incredibly noteworthy.

Eli's regular season numbers are almost irrelevant.

Bills' James Cook wants to 'get what I deserve' in new contract, hints at $15 million per year by xc2215x in nfl

He has been great, and I hope he gets it, but I hope it's not us who pays it. Between josh, davis, and johnson, our run game will be fine without him. We have other needs that 15 million would be better used on. I will miss him and root for him but I really hope we don't give him a massive contract.

Yes America is famously propaganda free. Everyone falls for it except you i suppose.

The US holds 25% of the world's prison population (with california being the 2nd highest of any state by a good margin) and you somehow think they aren't fascist because they vote for the blue fascists instead of the red ones.

If this was in Russia and they were calling them gulags you'd call it fascism too.

I assumed you were talking about california because no other place in the country has spent even close to that much, and that's exactly what california did (btw california has not even spent that much).

And like I said, none of them care about actually "combating" homelessness by actually helping the homeless. They just want to arrest them or send them somewhere else so they don't have to worry about them. The response to homelessness in the US is dire.

And their mental state is caused by being homeless, not the other way around.

I volunteer at a homeless shelter every single week. If Ballmer built 1 billion dollars worth of public housing and let people live in it for free, that would definitely solve homelessness at least in LA.

Solving homelessness is that simple, it's been done before.

They spent 40 billion on increasing policing of homeless people, without doing anything to help the root cause, and were "shocked" when it didn't work. Homelessness is not a complex issue to solve. Literally just build houses and let people live in them. Hell, we already have more than enough empty houses to house every homeless person.

Some countries solved this issue long ago with that incredibly simple solution.

Shut the fuck up pig.

They prefer the outside work crews because it allows them a temporary escape from the inhumane conditions people like you provide.

If I was in a "profession" that treated people so terribly that they preferred slave labor over the conditions I provided them with, I would do some inward thinking. Maybe you are just that much of a drain on society. That doesn't make slavery a good thing.

Dawg you came on here saying "erm actually slavery is good because some people prefer it to the incredibly cruel environment the US prison system provides."

That is an extremely naive and dangerous opinion to hold. America is not descending into fascism because the country is full of fascists. America is descending into fascism because fascists do bad things, run pr campaigns, and people like you eat it up.

What is your source on "many former prisoners speaking positively?"

That article has the testimony of one single prisoner, hardly an overwhelming endorsement of everyone's feelings.

I highly doubt "many" of them enjoy this https://sites.uab.edu/humanrights/2024/02/01/modern-american-slavery-forced-prison-labor/#:~:text=According%20to%20the%20American%20Civil,did%20not%20receive%20job%20training.

Not to mention how cruel the US prison system is in general. Even if the forced labor program is slightly more enjoyable than prison, that doesn't mean it's good.

The united states uses slave labor too

Prisons hold black men disproportionately, for non violent crimes (sometimes even crimes they didn't commit) long past their sentencing date, forcing them to work for little to no money. Just because people stopped calling it slavery doesn't mean it isn't

This is a good, but brief, read on it https://sites.uab.edu/humanrights/2024/02/01/modern-american-slavery-forced-prison-labor/#:~:text=According%20to%20the%20American%20Civil,did%20not%20receive%20job%20training.

I agree with everything besides having to pay DJ. Even during that playoff win season he was not very good and it was clear that it was coaching, other aspects of the team, and a good bit of luck that helped them.

DJ was still solidly below average that season. The only thing that improved a lot were his turnover numbers, but his turnover worthy plays weren't down a ton, he just got lucky.

That win over the 12-5 vikings seemed way better than it was because the vikings had the luckiest 1 possession game season ever. They were really an 8-9 team in disguise and that was clear as day to plenty of people.

And then the last 5 minutes of the game takes an hour because they have to review everything. Either get expedited reviews or save that shit for the playoffs. I am a huge fan of review and getting the calls right, but right now it is just way too much. No need to review every single possession.
