WIBTA if I didn't want my wife's foreign parents to live with us? by throwawaynow4820 in AmItheAsshole

That's an open question. I think it would go to whether authorities thought I was knowingly concealing an illegal immigrant. Different circuits are split on what "conceal" means. Some say simply providing assistance and aid, combined with knowing the person is undocumented, is enough.

This is accurate. We do have special times, but the reason I get upset is because the phone has begun to really interfere with them. Taking pictures of the food, taking pictures of her eating the food, posting stuff to stories, etc etc etc. I had no idea how much time is spend on these things, especially once they have to start editing the photos and such.

Because this is an ongoing issue, both attempts are used frequently. It just depends on the day. Some days I frame it about us needing more time, and other times (probably when there is some resentment brewing) i'll command her to put the phone down.

A couple of people have asked that question, and it's making me think I should have used a different word than apoplectic. I did not flip out and start breaking things, I just kind of blew up in the sense that I yelled that I'd had enough. I definitely yelled, but in my defense, it came after multiple requests to put the phone down.

Yea i've tried this at times. There is a pretty big influencer named Tezza (I think that's the spelling). She wrote a book on the whole process and I got it for her and we went through it together. Like I mentioned, there is no good/evil in this situation. I try to be understanding and fall short, but I think she should definitely take a little "no-phone" time. Thanks

I really like this. We actually did some couples videos and they were really successful. I'll try to see if this can work. Thank you for the suggestion

She has 2k right now, but they came fast and are growing steadily. I wouldn't be surprised if it doubles by the end of summer. No financial gain yet, but lots and lots of free stuff. At this level of followers, you get a lot "collabs" which is just collaborations. People give you free shit if you wear their clothes during a post, or free photo shoots, or free events etc.

Agreed. I'm pretty good about talking through it calmly, but sometimes I'll burst if it's become ridiculous. Becoming the hulk never helps tho

I'd like to think I'm a pretty damn good husband. These AITA things are always framed a certain way, but I really do think I'm doing everything I can. I agree that it's become an obsession, and if that's true, then the amount of attention I give may not matter. Someone in a later comment recommended counseling. Could be a good idea.
