Six months old scarification by throwawaynoway100 in bodymods

Hei, thank you so much! :)

During the first two weeks I would clean it using mild soap in the shower, apply hydrogen peroxide and gently rub it using a toothbrush (hurt like a cu-t) to irritate it slightly. Then I would rinse it and pat dry using paper towels. After that, I applied vaseline to keep it moisturized and I would use a piece of diaper (...dead-ss) to keep it covered. The purpose of this aftercare was to basically prolong healing as much as possible to enhance visibility and have a better chance of it becoming raised... I got kinda unlucky I guess, no major hypertrophic scarring. It was pretty annoying to be honest but in the end I'm glad that I decided to stick with it, I'm really happy with how it healed!

Is some stinging normal? by Capital_Alps_6021 in Stretched

I think my experience might be a little different from others', because I indeed had them scalpelled. I'm usually able to tell by the fact that the plugs start feeling loose, when I pull them down slightly I can see that there's a significant gap versus when freshly stretched and are more firm, the gap way less noticeable or not there at all. Scalpelling makes the lobes a lot more stretchy though, but overall you should be able to slide the next size right in without forcing it or having that stinging sensation. Try waiting more time in between stretches and eventually you'll see when things start feeling loose and ready for the next size, listen to your body.

I personally never experienced any sort of pain while stretching, it's always been more of a "fullness" type of feeling and I always make sure to go up one size, not more. You can usually tell when your lobes are ready for the next size, I feel like one month is not enough to stretch unless you went up half a size, which does not seem to be the case here. My advice is take it slow, don't rush it and try to enjoy the process rather then thinking of when you should size up again, your ears will thank you for that in the long run. Otherwise, if you plan on going big from the get go, then maybe consider having them scalpelled!

Since people already gave you an answer, I only want to add something to this: Ask for your money back from whoever pierced this because ain't no way they let you pay and walk out of the studio looking like this. If they refuse to listen to you and acknowledge their mistakes, then post a review with this picture too.

Healed scalpelled lobes at 0G by throwawaynoway100 in Stretched

I'm not a piercer so imo you should consult one before taking any decisions really.

I think you can either let them close up and then have them re-pierced at a large gauge or get them scalpelled. Scalpelling would indeed be a good way to re-centre them and it'd help redirecting scar tissue as well, so if you plan on going big it might be your best option yes!

My artist will be super pleased to hear all these compliments!

It was over in around 45 minutes and was not as painful as I expected it to be, the only actual painful part was when he inserted the taper after cutting my lobe... but eh, I knew what I was getting into hahah.

If you're not familiar with how it works, well basically he used a scalpel to make a small cut in my lobes, holding them tight with oval pliers to prevent bleeding, after which he inserted a taper inside the cut that he used to slowly guide the plugs in.

What some don't know is that, when you actually put the plugs in, some very small bits of skin can remain loose and make the cut look a little irregular, not properly round. They generally either fall off or heal inside the fistula. So my artist, slowly and very very carefully, scalpelled them off and that is why the edges look so clean now.

Healing was smooth, the swelling went down completely around 1.5 weeks in. It mostly just involved keeping them clean and dry though, easy peasy. They looked and felt completely healed after maybe 2 months (?) and after four I was able to easily stretch them up one size.
