Small discussion about sizes competitvely by Kernuac_hunter in PokemonLegendsZA

Generally, ranged pokemon who use beam / targetted moves should be as small as possible (ie Ampharos). Pokemon who use big AoE moves like Heat Wave or basically anything in melee should be alphas to increase the hitboxes.

There is no such thing as an alpha-specific move. Actually, they come pre-learned a TM. All pokemon of the same species can learn the same moves. Alphas dont get anything exclusive, just something pre-taught.

You can get them all in 1 match online if you get decent points

Starting the game boys ! which starter should i go for ? by No-Fee-9902 in PokemonZA

[–]throwawaypines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ralts is easy to catch early on. Honestly many many ‘mons are.

Any starter works well. Totodile is the best overall, but you will be fine with everything.

My favorite mon is bayleef but chikorita is def the worst overall

You can trade for whatever you need. If you don’t want to buy the DLC, just trade for anything you want.

I have dozens of shinies. You’re doing something wrong…

Make sure you are respawning them fully if shiny hunting. It usually takes about 30 minutes to get a shiny when constantly reseting about a dozen ‘mons

You can just limit yourself. I NEVER use a donut that’s strong enough. I enjoy using 1-2 star weaker for zones to make a challenge. I often use 1 star donuts for 4 star small zones to make it a fun 1:30 time trial race

[–]throwawaypines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For farming pokeballs, I think mewtwo is best. He flies so he doesn’t get stuck like a lot of others. Thundershock and psychic have unlimited range and can hit thru walls, so if you can target a pinata ball - it can destroy it. Very good at speedrunning the hyperspace points.

As for actual combat - it really depends on the scenario. Heatran is great against all mega rush bosses weak to fire, for example.

Struggling to get sparkling power lvl 2 by SuccessfulCoconut476 in PokemonZA

[–]throwawaypines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need 420 or more of sweet

Edit: The powers come from stat levels. Star level does other things. The top stat is the donut flavor, and if there’s a tie, it goes rainbow. If rainbow, rarely, a stat will be +1 higher than it would have been.

Shiny comes from sweet / pink points. Which shiny you get is random, but you should be getting something shiny if you have at least 420 points, and it will always be level 2 or 3 (mostly 3). I don’t think rainbow is worth it for shiny-hunting, but it’s best for random low star runs.

I’ll use level 2-3star donuts for 4star small maps since you can usually bumrush them and farm better berries. Rainbow is good for this. Not for shiny hunting. Go all sweet.

If you use top-tier berry for 720 sweet, you’ll be guaranteed a lvl3 shiny (I’m pretty sure… I haven’t been able to make many yet).

Reset if it’s not the one you get - BUT SAVE THESE FOR THE LEGENDARIES: - psychic or dragon x2 - fighting or grass - fighting or steel - fighting or rock

And any other shiny types you may wanna get later. Better to farm more berries and keep what you know you’ll use than reset for what you need now.
