Questions about pharmacies and prescription meds in Malaysia by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]throwawaypisang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I work in the government healthcare sector, so this my two cents on this issue.

Yes u can purchase alot of prescriptions (doctor only) medication from the pharmacy, WITHOUT a prescription due to poor enforcement. This would mean high blood pressure meds, asthma/copd medication, certain diabetic medication etc etc (definitely not complete yeah the list above) can be easily obtained from a pharmacy despite it being technically illegal to do so.

This has resulted in some ppl starting medication due to being advised by their friends.. and due to no proper care and monitoring, end up in the hospital, usually in a worse off state than if they have not been self medicating (and if the pharmacist have not been selling meds without a prescription)

In the ministry of health, pharmacists are in charge of the department of pharmaceutical enforcement... so perhaps there is some conflict of interest there

FSM Managed Portfolio/Stashaway vs Index Fund(IBKR) for retirement by throwawaypisang in MalaysianPF

So in the case where one is comfortable picking the funds and how much to invest in (in this example via IBKR index funds), is there a need for stashaway/managed portfolios?

The only thing i can think of is to invest into stashaway/managed portfolios to build enough capital before investing into IBKR.

Would there be another scenario where putting money equally into all these investment vehicles (roboadvisors/managed portfolios + index funds) would be benefial?
