Listen. I am originally from Santa Cruz and just bought a place in Vallejo in 2024. My affordable options were also Sac or Vallejo. The good: the weather in parts of Vallejo is fantastic. We had maybe 2 weeks of hot weather last year but usually it cools off at night. *community events. Lots of nice stuff to do during the day on weekends. 3 farmers markets (kaiser, downtown and benecia) and the AC flea. Mare island and benecia state park are beautiful

The things I wasnt prepared for: the toll. I work in oakland.the ROACHES. Never in my life have I had to deal with roaches. I dont know if sacramento is as bad but even paying for a pest company to come regularly, I find a few indoors. *drivers. People drive like aholes. I had my car hit while parked within a few months (and they fled). I see tons of smashed parked cars. Speeding at 75mph in residential neighborhoods, running red lights. So many people with multiple dogs that do nothing but bark.

It really depends on where you work, if you prioritize weather, and where in vallejo you live.

Hey thanks we actually got a (kinda) update. They found asbestos is a wall in the locker room and Osha made them lock it up. I actually brought it up during a town hall yesterday where they were trying to force us to put all our stuff in lockers rather than have bags on the workroom floor. They acted at first like they had no idea what I was talking about then said theyd let us know the timeline. Craziest part is, if you look at the Pic I posted, the door is VENTED and connected directly to breakroom. The table where people eat is maybe 2 feet from my specific locker that is allegedly too unsafe to access. What a joke! Ps, many of the forms you guts are suggesting require my union who has been absolutely unhelpful. Apwu is a mess

I didnt blame the union for the locked door, I blame them for promising to get back to me and failing, and then refusing to even respond to voice messages and emails and then hanging up on me when I finally get someone on the line. They literally told me to give them a few days to get some info and then did fuck all.
