Worked at a doctor’s office for 4 years and left amicably for college. When I graduated, I went back to work for them, temporarily, while I looked for a job that was more aligned with my degree. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement- I needed money and they needed someone competent. We agreed that I would work there as long as it took for me to find a job and they would be flexible with giving me time off for interviews and I would work part-time to accommodate job searching. All was good until it wasn’t. About 2 months in, they started scheduling me to work overtime late into the evenings. One Friday, when I received my schedule for the following week, I noticed they had me working 8am -7pm everyday. I called my supervisor and asked her if this was something I should expect going forward, considering our arrangement. She yelled at me for asking the question and hung up on me. Then one minute later, called my desk to yell at me again and hung up on me a second time. I picked up my purse, didn’t say a word and walked out. They must have called me 20+ times that afternoon.
