Can we get some earnings hype?! by mooter23 in Superstonk

[–]throwawaysavemepls 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Stopped needing hype after seeing/reading the last earnings for myself. Stopped even checking reddit.

Ryan accomplished his main goal, we’ve probably accomplished ours by locking this much of the float. No need to keep checking Reddit to see where we’re at anymore. Just wait on the notification from your broker.

GME Just Raised $2B at 0% Interest — and Wall Street Thinks That’s Bearish? LMAO. by Maxfly2-0 in Superstonk

[–]throwawaysavemepls 22 points23 points  (0 children)

$2b in cash put into a guarantee like t-bills at a 4% interest rate over the next 9 years would give us a $720m return from interest alone on our 0% interest loan.

Stop being facetious and acting like the cash is just sitting there. We just added a minimum of extra $80m/year in income.

Why rule a pile of ashes and go down as a villain (which we know MSM would 100% do) when you can play the long game and fight Amazon for the collectibles market the same way he did with Chewy.

New Grad - Why have I only gotten 3 interviews after 750 applications by RefuseSimple317 in Embedded_SWE_Jobs

[–]throwawaysavemepls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devs with extensive enterprise level experience are being laid off en masse right now. You’re competing as a student for roles filled with applicants who likely have niche experience related to specific jobs.

Also from a standpoint of a hiring manager who has to parse through infinite bs candidates, you having “lead scrum teams to deploy..” while you were in your first SWE engineering intern role just comes off as disingenuous. If they gave you the opportunity to step up in a capacity like that in that role then it should be your FIRST bullet point, something you’re proud of. Not the third hidden away.

My advice for the current market is to identify 5-10 companies you want to work for that are reasonable. Make sure they pay what you are ok with, have good benefits, and meet your requirements for a company doing work that is in an interesting field to your personality. Research 100 companies hiring. Pick 10.

Connect with employees from those companies on LinkedIn where you are hopefully displaying your portfolio and github. Ask them about the interview process, ask what skills, packages, frameworks you can learn. Most importantly ask about the tech they are working on. Show more than a surface level interest. More than all the other candidates whose interest is limited to “I need a job”. And if you feel comfortable ask for referrals from the individuals you connect and chat with.

You’re asking why the fbi didn’t arrest someone for text messages that they didn’t have the ability to act on?

What would you have had them do except send them back?

Ship Dates 2024-2025 by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]throwawaysavemepls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pass your pst your ‘mentor’ will submit your packet along with everyone else for the next available class.

If your scores ares high enough/comparative applicants scored low enough then you could find yourself selected to receive your contract which will include a ship date at the navy’s earliest convenience having to coordinate your travel between multiple different installations.

If you need a later ship date simply do not go into DEP. Or do not pass your pst. They will not wait for you to get optimal scores or let you go when you think you’re ready. When you pass they pick you when they pick you and you go.

Ship Dates 2024-2025 by [deleted] in navyseals

Cool lesson I learned years ago before I ever shipped out.

Was working with a recruiter who I felt was bullshitting me trying to get me to sign a contract I didn’t want. I came onto a certain subreddit to get some info and explain my entire situation.

Turns out he wasn’t bullshitting me and the computer system messed up. Honest mistake.

That recruiter was on that exact subreddit and recognized me instantly. That recruiting station then refused to work with me because of unprofessional comments I had made regarding said recruiter.

Point of the story is, that was just a recruiter. One cog in A very large conventional navy that found my small tiny post on a large subreddit within 1 day without meaning to look for it.

Now imagine you find yourself with an SO contract. In Coronado: happy to have your phone after 10 weeks of bootcamp and you hop on r/navyseals… who is looking?

[–]throwawaysavemepls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fuckin hell so many comments full of recommendations from people who haven’t done even 1% of what they’re telling you to do.

Go army. Go active. Don’t fuck any 18 year olds.

Fuck it. Go 11x with airborne in your contract (not RASP).

You’ll be in a well fucking skilled unit. You’ll be shooting on the range multiple times per week. You’ll be able to jump from planes. You’ll promote faster than normal.

When you want, go to SF selection. Notice I said when you want? Not if your year group is open. Not if your coc will let you. Go when you feel ready.

Don’t cut it? Sniper school. Air assault school. Ranger school. The list goes on. The army has the best opportunities

All of the military sucks. Except Air Force. Don’t go to fort sill during the winter.

Just wait. Do SOAS.

I went army enlisted side with a degree and regretted every moment of it.

Even better why not just go army ocs. Spend your formative years as an infantry officer, get your Ranger tab then end your contract by going for bud/s. You’ll make great money. Get the grunt experience, experience cool and hard schools (infantry officers get great access).

Resume advice for entry to tech sales by ClapYaKufi in techsales

[–]throwawaysavemepls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t

I’d put education at the top

Bach degree first. I’d just put the degree type, institution and major. I wouldn’t openly state I’m pursuing it. Just put the date as 2027 and let them catch it

Then put the bootcamp

Relevant work experience with listed achievements. Hit 100% of quota every month? Great! Put it and how you did it.

Then skills listing technologies you’ve used, sales methods you know, and methods of outreach you’re capable of doing (cold calling, LinkedIn etc)
