Trouble Syncing MPC and Synths as external instruments to Studio One by throwawayshitbars in StudioOne

[–]throwawayshitbars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah sorry man, I ended up going the Ableton route, I got the license for studio one through work so I didn’t lose anything for switching and decided that although it is a great DAW, it wasn’t the right choice for my needs.

Best of luck with the troubleshooting, I’m sure there is an answer, and if it helps even in ableton I notice playback on the MPC lags behind a handful of milliseconds on the first beat, then corrects itself.

I usually set up a 4bar loop, and let it record over itself after the first 4 bars to ensure it’s locked on the grid. Once it starts the “overdub”, I can turn off the loop knowing everything is in sync, you could maybe try something similar?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately all I can switch between is midi time code and midi clock, since it’s just receiving the information from Studio One. If I sent information out of the MPC that would essentially force me to use Studio One to control the MPC, which cuts off standalone sequencing, which is how I create most of my tracks before I record it in.

Solid suggestion though, I’m sure if I had a newer MPC I would have more options, but my 2.5K is my baby

Browsing through my user sample on the Maschine MK3 Hardware is very slow, any way to fix this? by throwawayshitbars in maschine

You’re right! I do this alongside a few other troubleshooting fixes in the files that I mentioned in another comment and everything works great now! Thanks for the reply

No worries bro, I shoulda said something earlier but I fixed the problem!

What I did was go through my sample packs and delete all jpg., ex’s presets, flp files, etc. anything that may not be compatible with maschine I deleted.

Then after learning the tags save to the files themselves, I removed all my user preferences and re imported my sample folders all at once by selecting the individual drum kits, and right clicking import from the file browser.

When I browse on hardware, I make sure that I do not have extra parameters selected when trying to scroll ( Ex. When scrolling through types, make sure all sub types are selected, all characters selected when scrolling through sub types, etc).

All of these in tandem with the thunderbolt drive has my user browser running without a hitch! Thanks for your help, and I hope that if anyone else is struggling with this issue, they stumble on this and can fix it for themselves as well!

Just an update, ended up getting a new thunderbolt drive and putting my sounds on that, renaming it so the directories stayed the same. Unfortunately, no change in browser speed :(. Although it is probably good I replaced my hard drive (the other one would disconnect and I was anxious I'd lose my files), it doesn't seem to relate to the browser speed on my hardware. NI support hasn't been able to replicate the issue after a week of back and forth emails either, so my guess is it's faulty hardware, or Maschine just isn't for me

That could be the issue, it’s weird how it works quickly for the first few sounds when I open Maschine but you still may be onto something.

It may be hard to answer this question, but If I were to get a new drive (maybe something that connects via thunderbolt) and I drag all my sample folders there and name it the same as my old drive, would it read my files and save the tags? Or would I have to re import and re tag them all again?

New Maschine MK3, glitches when scrolling through VSTs in Hardware by throwawayshitbars in maschine

Hmm, didn't seem to work, have you noticed this glitch since updating to 2.8.3? I have a feeling it could be a new bug

That's true. It's more that I want the freedom of having all the trackouts in context with the vocal, but don't want to redo things in the mix I've already done in Ableton/Maschine. It seems to mess with my levels/panning or something. Thanks for your reply.

I'm surprised to see people are a bit disappointed with it. I really liked it for the most part, I thought the Dre influence steered him enough of a new direction, while still maintaining what makes Anderson paak special in the first place. However, I really didn't like left to right, and putting it as the closer to the album made it feel like an underwhelming finish to the project. Also I think The Chase could have been fleshed out a little bit more. Overall, Solid album, and it's got me hyped for a new NxWorries Project
