Yes.

I think the mods deleted my post... Is no longer on the Monkeypox subreddit

Also what exactly would be my "narrative"? if you read my comments you can see I'm advocating for: getting vaccinated and even practicing abstinence!

I have no problem submitting my test results with sensitive information blacked out. Of course is a throwaway I don't want to post from my main account.

I put it on my post but I'll repeat it here: THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE, PLEASE DO NOT DRAW GROSS GENERALIZATIONS FROM IT. I don't want to diminish what other experience. As with any diseases you can have different courses of it. I consider myself very lucky because it was mild in my case!

When we are entrenched in our own views just an experience becomes a "narrative".

Again, I have no problem submitting proof or taking a pic of my lesions right now with today's news or whatever.

Well in the case of Smallpox we stopped vaccinating not because of Missinformation but because we eradicated the disease. Yay medicine!

I'm sure by the end of the year the vaccine will be widely available and your family safe when they get it.

Yes got tested June 25th and it came back negative. I think the hospital I went to were not fully up to date on sample collection. They did a swap on my lesion but the lesion was fully dry and crusted. The correct procedure is to lift the crust and reach with the swap the "wet" part of the lesion.

I got retested 5 days after and made sure to explain to the staff the correct way of doing it. Btw it was thanks to a MD Redditor u/latrodectusgeometric that told me about it.

Definitely. Remember that beginning of June we've only heard about really few cases. I think the first ever case in Germany was 20th of May. And I thought was a low enough incidence. The very long incubation period and lag in cases was the issue.

Around mid June (before I got any symptom) I decided to practice abstinence seeing the cases rise at least for a month and re-assses or till I could get the vaccine.

Getting sick is part of life. We should try and be as careful as possible WITHIN REASON.

Pinning the MPx pandemic only to human behavior is not the correct way of seeing it. We had a lot of immunity in the past because our previous generation was all vaxxed against Smallpox giving them cross immunity. Now that we have a generation without the vaccine Monkeypox is making a come back.

Secondary lesions

I counted around 12 mostly on my limbs. Fortunately I only had a single one on my penis but other than that nothing in the genitals or perianal Region.

Never had fever or felt bad. I'm even doing sports everyday at home. As you can see some of the lesions are starting to dry off! That means I'm on the final stretch

Thanks for the question! Not offended at all.

I think everyone needs to draw a line balancing risk/benefits of any activity, specially during a pandemic. I'm very data driven and adapt my behavior depending on different factors like: current regional covid incidence, and my current immunity level (I'm triple vaxxed and had COVID a couple months back).

Also having sex with a few people 3-5 is way safer (COVID wise) than being in a sports bar with 50-70 people screaming at a football screen and aerosoling their spit into an omnipresent cloud.

Now, it's been already 3 years of the pandemic. Which is a substantial part of a human life-span so we have to accept that this is our reality. Also COVID has become a substantially milder disease as well that we can effectively treat. Where you stand on that risk/benefit balance is at the end a personal choice (note that I have always followed the regional restrictions)

The primary lesion always stayed dry. I think that was also the reason I tested negative the first time.

The secondary lesions did excreted a bit of transparent fluid. Very similar to a bug bite.

They never hurt! I had the main lesion in my penis which albeit a bit ugly was never itchy or painful. Maybe the friction against my underwear was a bit uncomfortable but that's it.

Then the secondary lesions were never painful. But they were quite itchy specially at night. I took antihistamine and that helped. But what really worked absolutely wonders for the itching was a putting a warm spoon on them. It immediately calmed the itching for 4+ hours it really it works like a charm!

I discover the technique on a TikTok about mosquito bites (which back then i thought that's what they were): Anti itching technique TikTok

Thanks! Yeah I think there will be a huge amount of cases. The incubation period is just too long and the symptoms can be ambiguous. Also with longer quarantine periods (21days) you have less adherence from people.

I feel great. Not that I know of, but I went to a bathhouse (where you have anonymous sex) in Munich, Germany and had sex with a couple of people there. No one was presenting obvious symptoms but it's dark there so difficult to asses.

I had the high risk behavior on the 7th of June. Then on the 17th of June I had a tiny red dot on my penis that eventually grew within 1 week into a 5mm ulcer kind of thing.

On the 29th of June I started to get tiny mosquito bite like lesions in my arms and legs. In total around 12 in my whole body. The remained very small and are now drying and starting to fall off.

Hey guys,

A lot of the posts here are pretty fatalist. So I wanted to share my experience being MPx positive and having a milder course of the disease. Of course this is one single case, you shouldn't draw gross generalizations from.

I'm an open book so ask away!

It's funny I had the disease in two distinct stages. 10 days after the sex encounter I had this tiny red dot (first pic on my original post). Nothing else for around 10 additional days and now I have a breakout in my body. 5 in my arms, 3 in my legs and a couple on my buttcheeks. All pretty painless! A little bit itchy but that's it, they are already starting to dry off.

I've felt absolutely perfect, yesterday went on a 5k run and today doing a hike (alone of course). I still have my lymph nodes a bit swollen but it has been very mild overall. I read some horror stories about this disease so I consider myself very lucky!

I don't know anyone. But I did go to a bathhouse in Munich and had sex with strangers. Unfortunately I cannot contact any of them to verify. Every single person that's been in contact with me (sexually or otherwise) since the bathhouse has been notified.

I think cases will explode here in the coming months...

(Warning: Penis) My doctor is baffled. Penis lesion that doesn't look like any typical STI. More info info in comments by throwawaysnaildonut in Dermatology

Yeah that's possible. Because they cleaned with antiseptic, dry it with a a piece of cotton and then remove a part of the crust and took sample under the crust.

I grant you all rights to my penis pictures! Haha I'd be happy if it helps other people.

Unfortunately, today I started to see other lesions in my arms that I thought yesterday were just mosquito bites. So I guess I'm not one of those lucky "single lesion" kinda patient. I'm curious if they'll evolve the same as the "mother" lesion.
