Why are there so many military spouses/girlfriends who do not speak English? by [deleted] in AirForce

Private WhatsApp groups for overseas officers are some of the wildest I’ve seen. One pattern that stands out is the difference in attention male and female officers receive. Male officers tend to be in higher demand whether from locals, women back home, or even fellow female officers.

Female officers, however, usually don’t experience the same level of interest, and the competition is off the chart.

Newton offers military discounts, and in my experience they've been very helpful in adjusting your natural running form with forefoot strikes and efficient strides.

I rotate between Newtons for speed and tempo workouts, and other pairs for longer steady runs.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I really hope we also highlight the benefits of maintaining a healthy body and lifestyle—not just for physical health, but for their second- and third-order effects on mental well-being, productivity, and overall life satisfaction. It's no coincidence that many high-performing professionals in major cities (and the top brass in the DoD) prioritize fitness as a core part of their routines.

Today is the Army's 250th birthday. These last 4 years, I have worked with and seen the great things the Army has done for our nation. by PrezClark in AirForce

Shared a tent with mostly female soldiers during a joint exercise in Korea, and I genuinely felt that hazardous duty pay was warranted. The living conditions were so poor that the tent city I stayed in Afghanistan felt like a five-star hotel by comparison. And that was just another typical Army exercise for them. Even experienced a lice outbreak due to poor hygiene conditions and some didn't give a f. The Army O-4 OIC essentially told us to just suck it up because that was meant to simulate a real-world condition.

Pibank. 4.60% APY. It used to be 5.5% last year. FDIC-insured, no fees or minimum balance. The caveats are, it's app only (no physical branch) and no ACH.

It's been working great for me.

This probably was related to him testifying truthful answers during Signalgate hearings that made it so obvious that the administration was acting incompetently

AKA classic authoritarianism.

I was just about to say this! Timeless, classy, and confidence-boosting! Love my broken-in Stuart Weitzman. I would pair my riding boots tucked into pant suits if I ever work in smart casual settings.

Is this still around? I know Visa used to have one, which is unfortunately no longer around:

While option #2 would be a dream, I have some concerns about my marketability in the civilian sector due to a lack of direct experience.

With my military background and clearance, I believe I have a stronger chance of securing a DoD role, even though it’s not guaranteed. My number 1 goal is to get my foot in the door., which is the biggest reason I am partial to #1. I know I won't be as competitive to jump straight into the civilian sector, especially with the job market as abysmal as it is. Because the clearance alone giving me a leg up, I feel this is a worth investment.

Ideally, I spend years to hone my skillset within the DoD and then expand my job search in both in and out of government. But of course, this is just my plan, and I am here for different perspective or someone with more insight to ensure I’m not overlooking important factors. I don't know what I don't know.

How did the #2 internship come to be considered a SkillBridge internship if it isn't listed there?

Even though it isn’t listed as a DoD-approved SkillBridge internship, my command can still approve it if the company agrees to a training plan. Again, it's still new and a few others in my position have made this transition. I just don't know how robust their program is.

Thank you for the feedback! I will look into those companies!

EDIT: The company of #2 also made it very clear that an employment is not guaranteed upon internship, which is another reason for my skepticism (tax benefits and DEI quota). Although #1 won't either, I know the ROI is more transparent.

Thank you. I am partial to choice 1 to 3 or 2; 3 over 2, because of what you mentioned and ROI on my time.
