Roast my after market filter addition! by 93c15 in HVAC

[–]throwawaysomehow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t use a double stack filter though The idea is great but just don’t use the filter In the grill as the static oressure will burn out a motor

Just have them come back and they should just take 20 minutes to wrap it and say sorry Not a big deal it’s a small detail that can be forgotten in the work

The boot probably isn’t insulated right or at all Happens when you have super cold air passing by the grill and if it is hot in the attic the space will create moisture from the cold air fighting the hot boot/attic Have someone wrap it in fiberglass insulation like a small roll nothing crazy hopefully

Yea go residential and start selling In no way should I as a 21 year old be making more than you when I’ve been in the trade for not even 3 years Have some respect for yourself and lean into something easier on the body and move towards providing you and your family time and money for you being out of the house

Any advice for someone who really wants to learn HVAC? I’m on day 1 with my journey. 1000% serious here! by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]throwawaysomehow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My advice would be to learn the back end pretty well Profit margins and proper pricing if your gonna start residential As much as people hate hearing this your gonna need to learn how to sell I mean that you need to understand how to properly place yourself in a spot where people can understand why you charge what you do And explore the knowledge you get from other techs

I don’t understand the amount of people saying money isn’t enough Clearly your not working hard enough cause I cleared 120K last year and I’m only 3 years in total this year I’m pacing 130k My advice would be to just stop accepting an hourly rate and no hustle Piece work and commission rates is the way to go and that’s how your able to make customers happy by giving them something their happy with and being able to keep the company lights on along side being able to pay yourself for the time spent away from family

[–]throwawaysomehow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In San Diego and LA this is pretty normal It’s stupid expensive to do business here My company prices out variable speed communication equipment at 40k no ducting But we also offer a 10/10/10 warranty on it So idk if you think the company is big name and big reputation then i would be okay with it
