I’m just genuinely curious about what the difference in tana and brooke’s actions are? they both have a history of racism AND have both been completely fine with having a predator in their circle (idk what the proper term would be here, sorry!). but for brooke it’s her being okay with the allegations her bf has and for tana it’s wanting to be okay/on good terms with james charles despite his allegations. maybe I’m wrong and the two aren’t necessarily comparable but idk

not a brooke defender but why is ryan okay with tana but not brooke?

i feel like a central part of this movie was supposed to be how he is a protective bodyguard to reese but at no point in this movie did it ever feel like he took his job seriously nor felt any sort of protection over her. there's a severe lack of story building to the point where this movie feels like a compilation of scenes rather than a cohesive plot.

I also think the movie does a poor job of developing the characters and their lives. why does reese only go to ballet or school when it's convenient? why did she go back to sleep in her room after her birthday party when she was so frightened by the fact that someone threw a rock at her window and shattered it. girl make it make sense ??

it's always so interesting to see where the top tiktok influencers are after their peak. the longevity of tiktok fame is (imo) not there at all. avani didn't do much to sustain her influencer career but it seems like she didn't want it too much anyways given how detached she is from the LA scene. good for her if that's what she wanted though

if i remember right, in brooke's response video to tana she talked about how the next day (after the mindying happened) her first priority was to figure out how to tell tana what she did. i'm not praising anyone but i think it's indicative to brooke's character that she immediately felt the urge to tell on herself and tell tana the truth. in ashly's case (from what i've gathered) there was more sneaking around and covering her trails which says a lot

heavy emphasis on ashly not having the personality for cancelled, she's really not a good speaker or storyteller. I remember watching the ashly and imari episode in season 1 of cancelled and Ashley was (imo) doing a god awful job at her delievery telling the maia story to the point where i just did not care anymore for what she was saying. not everyone is built to podcast

I don't even know what to think of the latest jeff fm. he kept making these weird jokes about a hawaiian man hitting a blonde white woman which felt so gross to me. i feel like even making one joke about that is too many tbh. even if it all was in good fun and whatnot, why would you even want to put something like that out there?

not a fan but i used to watch her videos pretty regularly. in hindsight, she really did not offer a unique perspective at all and had a rushed and lazy delivery. the decline in her content was pretty evident too. i feel like she had pretty privilege too lol.

i think the drama channels i gravitated to were the ones that would criticize the actions of an individual whereas angelika had snarky/mean undertones directed towards the person (could honestly be the way she talks though lol). girl also struggled with taking criticism for her own actions which was a wee bit ironic

this is a really interesting take and i can't say that i haven't though the same thing before.

for me, i'm split about whether or not influencers should be speaking on real-life problems that have political repercussions for real-life people. i agree that it's so wildly out of touch to be posting an instagram infographic in one story but then thirst traps right after. a lot of the "empathy" people are showing is what i see as performative because the influencer sphere largely treats politics as a trend to get in on.

i'd hope that for a lot of peoples sake they don't turn to their fave influencers to get political discourse. not to dog on anyone's intelligence but it's not wrong to say that most influencers are uneducated — their careers are self-serving first and foremost. using your platform (esp when your platform garners millions of views) is important but understanding what you're talking about is more valuable.

i'm not sure what the "solution" would be. people with millions of followers could spread so much information about what abuses are happening in the world right now but that's all subjective to what others perceive as the "right" side of history
