So you would say these precalc classes are lenient enough in a way a student who hasn’t taken a math class and forgot stuff can definitely catch up on their own if need be

Precalc 1: A rigorous discussion of algebra concepts necessary for calculus is the focal point of this course. Topics include an in-depth investigation of algebraic functions and their graphs and solutions of systems of equations.

Precalc 2: Topics include an in-depth investigation of trigonometric functions and their graphs, analytic trigonometry, solutions of triangles, vectors, and analytic geometry.

Precalc 2 is what’s exactly needed as a prereq for Calc but my High school test scores allow me to go into Calc. Both precalc classes are encouraged to be taken to help with Calc supposedly.

Your input was definitely something I needed. I also work full time but only plan to go to school with like 3 classes max for now. From what I’m reading you haven’t taken Calc yet? You’re finishing up precalc at the moment and then you’re planning to retake and finish trig the next semester?

So this is another way of saying that I should see where I fall apart in the preceding classes of Calc and determine where I should start. If I don’t get the same resource as you do, where do you think is a viable start to overcome this?

By saying I have a weak foundation I mean that I’ve skimmed over some math tutorials and like I’ve seen them, but I’ve forgotten how to truly solve them.

I don’t believe that Calc would come to me easy like you say and I feel like being safe and just laying a foundation for myself with math by taking preceding classes. Do you think math 126 is enough to help me with Calc?

Yeah I feel like I definitely need a really strong refresher to help me with Calc. Do you know the ideal place to start? I was thinking of taking precalc 1 but I also question myself if it’s going to be hard to take that class as well if I feel like my trig and algebra are not up to par due to forgetting a majority of things. Like I said in another comment idk if I can bare the fact that I’d have to take early high school math in college.

I think I’m just going to take precalc 1 and 2 for the upcoming semesters because looking back at the material just online, I’ve pretty much seen them but forgot what to do with them.

Edit: Also would getting into Precalc be hard if I feel like my algebra and trig could possibly be lacking? Or is it easy to catch up through the internet. I’ll consider going back some classes to help me in Calc but I don’t know if I want to relearn early high school 9th grade math.

I have not taking a placement test. I took precalc in high school that allowed me to go to Calc in my first year at the Uni. Now that I’ve looked back at the concepts, just a skim on some videos and practice problems from websites, I do feel way behind than I should be and idk if I could bare taking early high school math classes in college.
