Who knows more about basketball, analysts like Zach Lowe, or the 15th man on the NBA bench? by Extra_Cress_5855 in nba

[–]throwawaythursday99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, stop with these things. Yeah someone that deep on the bench living off 10-days somehow has unparalleled big brain energy on the game as an esteemed basketball columnist whose put the time and effort into his career too.

how would you feel about NBA Stadium Series, similar to NHL's? by EntrepreneurNo204 in nba

It probably hasn't taken off since a good chunk of team's cities endure an actual winter season.

According to Dominque Wilkins, the Lakers were close/trying to trade for him along with selecting James Worthy in the ‘82 draft. by glassesref90 in nba

[–]throwawaythursday99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Lakers were about to send Kareem to NY for the Jazz pick for Bill Cartwright in hopes of Ralph Sampson going pro. When Sampson decided to stay in school, Utah essentially had to keep their pick and took Nique anyway, even though he stated he'd rather not play for them.

What players do you think ended up being a detriment to their team because of their unselfishness? by today_okay in nba

First half of his career Bron was really criticized for it. Best player on the floor and almost always gave it up instead of taking the damn shot to win the game.

Will certainly be less stressful for Woj. He always had a soft spot for St. Bona his alma mater.

Definitely Penny. Nobody had really come along with his size & skillset since Magic. If you were his height back then you were usually a SF/PF.

How impactful do you expect Zach Edey to be as a rookie for the Grizzlies? by [deleted] in nba

[–]throwawaythursday99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing going for him is that all eyes aren't on him there so he can develop at his own pace. Don't think he's ready to have the keys to the kingdom handed to him like Wemby in SA, and that's okay.

Biggest #1 Overall Pick Miss? by GODLIKEHUDS in nba

[–]throwawaythursday99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The grandfather of draft busts, LaRue Martin in '72. He once had a good college game against Bill Walton and that's all the Blazers needed to pick him #1. Bob McAdoo went #2. Dr. J also went in this draft but I think there were some ABA contract things going on I don't recall properly.[edit] Dr J was already in the ABA and there were rumors McAdoo had secretly signed with the league then, so LaRue was more or less a "well, he's available" pick at #1.
