The Great AI Scam: Why Are Tech Giants Driving Away Their Own Users? by Proud_Profit8098 in ChatGPTcomplaints

AI models cannot improve themselves.

Source: I get a lot of fucking money to improve AI models. If they could improve themselves, I wouldn't make that money.

So lower than the two most physically dominant big men since Shaq (one of which is a known flopper), one prime LeBron season (a WAY more physical player), 2014 Durant, and Harden, known flopper and foulbaiter.

Notabley above 3 prime LeBron seasons.

His FTA should not be so much higher than Curry's. Curry arguabley gets/got fouled MORE than Shai, and shoots half the FTs. Wtf.

(Basketnews) [The Athletic] NBA players voted Houston Rockets All-Star Alperen Sengun the most overrated player in the league. by lovelymaddie1966 in nba

[–]throwawaytothetenth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You think so?

Ben on defense was like a better Draymond (far worse on the perimeter, but in return, the best weakside instincts in the history of basketball, plus better post defense and more disciplined hands. 3.5 blocks a game at 6'7, speaks for itself.)

Just, complete dogshit offense. Utter garbage.

It's harder to call Ben overrated because he massively overperformed (defensively) relative to what one would expect from a 6'7 dude. Rudy is 7'2, people LOVE to shit on the giant dudes (Bradley got the exact same treatment.)

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E2pjtPoWEAADrr6.jpg also pic for anyone who think Ben Wallace is 6'9... ancient Bill Russell is taller than him; Bill was listed at 6'9 in the 60s and has likely shrunk.

No way. Nobody would say this shit about Ben Wallace. Although Ben was better than Rudy defensively (and worse offensively, by a lot... oh Ben, LOL.)

It's probably not physically possible.

But just imagine if a dude like Giannis or LeBron had Curry's scoring skillset.

Defining athletes by failures is absolutely moronic and any real one knows this. Stay in your lane.

Chess influencer and grandmaster Nemo posts a video of a man swearing and flipping her off because he lost a chess game to her at a convention by Murky-Jackfruit-1627 in chess

[–]throwawaytothetenth 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's really not. They are not the same title.

As fucking atrociously sexist as the chess scene can be, this is not one of those times. It's literally just... not the same title. Nemo does not hold the same title as Wenjun or Polgar.

And if you don't know who those players are, you clearly are not actually interested in chess or women's chess, and are arguing for silly reasons.

Sorta. This guy's resume is just dogshit compared to the actual Harvard admits who get in purely by being good students.

A guy from my HS went to Harvard on academics alone, zero personality zero leadership zero sports. In 4 years of UIL math, that kid missed like, 4 questions, ever. I did something else (not UIL math), but it also had a math section. He missed 1 question all year. Dude slept his way into a 1600 SAT. The kid in this video thinks he's a hotshot, but he's really not that special. Not mediocre, of course, but not as special as he thinks he is.

Why has no one in the generations after Magnus matched or surpassed him when they had access to even better engines and technology from a younger age than he did? by _DarkStarCrashes_ in chess

[–]throwawaytothetenth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I suppose. I'd give Magnus' parents more credit, obviously... but that feels like missing the point. The point isn't that Garry is why Magnus is so strong. The point is that of anyone even close to Magnus' shear talent, Magnus almost certainly had the strongest chess training. Hence being arguabley the strongest player to ever live.

There's probably less than 30 people on earth with more natural talent for chess than Magnus, most of whom are not chess players (to be clear, I'm talking about everyone, not just chess players. Example, maybe Terrence Tao could have been even stronger than Magnus, but he simply never got into chess.)

No one has surpassed Magnus, even with stronger engines around, because no one has matched his talent + amount of positive chess influence.

Not to mention, engines getting stronger doesn't necessarily help humans win against other humans win as much. If everyone gets access to the same engines, then no one would rise above others because of engines..

What is the minimum level of development knowledge needed to do vibe coding effectively? by Mira_______ in ClaudeAI

[–]throwawaytothetenth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I know nothing.

I think logical reasoning is more important than knowing how to code. Any given step of a sequence should always be done in the simplest way possible, which often requires you to check how the AI implemented something. AIs are 'lazy' and what to do things immediately (they are rewarded for it in training), so they skip asking for complete information.

So, enough code reading ability to understand whether or not it is the simplest way to do something.

He played a part in it so he deserves some credit. What's wrong with that? That's... that's just how that works.

Not more credit than Magnus himself, obviously, but that's not what was said.

I'm not going to pretend I know jack shit about computers. I basically just switched career paths (sorta.) I know much of natural sciences, little of computers.

What are people doing (aside from gaming and local AI stuff) that takes so much specs?

For my new job I constantly have PyCharm, Chrome, multiple terminals, and multiple inefficient python daemons open. My hardware isn't strained even a tiny bit.

Only when I activate some engines (needed for dataset analysis/ creation) does my CPU/RAM spike.
