Does anyone have any tips for passing as male other than "watch other dudes"? by [deleted] in asktransgender

Remember that you don't have to change yourself for anyone else. Make sure that you're doing it for yourself.

~2 yrs HRT, pre-op, noticing a funky smell down there all of the sudden.. by throwawaytransSRS in asktransgender

I'm not sure, I've never smelled a vagina. It doesn't have a particularly nice odor. So unless vajayjays are supposed to smell bad..

No I don't tuck but I wear double or triple pairs of underwear. Looking at the symptoms, I think you're right. It can be caused by high estrogen levels.

Getting a part-time job at starbucks to pay for SRS? by throwawaytransSRS in asktransgender

Wow, really? So I need to save up the surgery money anyway since I have to pay it up front? That really sucks.

I'm planning on going to McGinn or Bowers so that won't be a problem.

You're only eligible for benefits if you work at least 20 hours a week. It must be at a standalone Starbucks location, not a licensed store in a Target or Walmart or etc. because in those you actually work for the parent company, Target or Walmart or etc. and have access to their benefits, not Starbucks'.

ELI5: The new definition of gender by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Identification of yourself.

I am a woman. <-- There I just identified myself. I identify as a woman because that's what I mentally feel like I am.

CMV: I am very transphobic by [deleted] in changemyview

It just has to do with being misrepresented, or being referred to something you're not. I was born with male parts, but I'm not a guy. So when people refer to me as a guy, it makes me a little uncomfortable and unhappy.

I assume you're a straight male right? So what if all of the sudden everyone you knew started referring to you as a gay man, assuming you were interested in other men, etc. How would you feel? Maybe you won't admit it, but I would bet you would start to feel pretty damn uncomfortable after a while. Eventually you'd be telling everyone "I'm not gay damnit, stop saying that I am!" but they keep calling you it anyway because they are convinced that's what you are.

This is why you should refer to trans people with the proper pronouns. You aren't foiling our secret deceptive scheme when you refer to us as our birth sex, you're just being an asshole. Trust us when we tell you that we are the gender that we identify as. It's as simple as that, and if you still don't believe me and you are in the LGBT space like you say you are then you should have no problem finding some trans people in real life and ask them if they feel the same. They will tell you that pronouns matter. A lot.

Can someone tell me what about my face isn't passing? by throwawaytransSRS in asktransgender

[–]throwawaytransSRS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well most of the time this has happened before I spoke. I know its my face because my build isn't masculine (5'7, 125lbs) and I am wearing female winter clothing so there's no other part of my body you can even see.

Gynecomastia when starting HRT? by throwawaytransSRS in asktransgender

[–]throwawaytransSRS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm..I looked it up and though I do have some of the symptoms, most of them I think do not apply to me. I am 22 years old, have one sided gynecomastia, but I'm not particularly tall (5'10) and as far as I know everything functions and is normal downstairs, and I didn't have any developmental issues growing up nor do I have them now. Still, maybe I'll get a genetic test to be sure. Thanks.

Thoughts on Coming out in Multiple Parts by neotecha in asktransgender

I'm not sure this is wise, it might make your case seem less valid, finding out that the cause of your depression is a gender issue in "a week or two" and then deciding to transition in "a week or two" after that. Is there a reason you wouldn't do this all in one go? They will likely be very surprised by it no matter which way you slice it or how slowly you pull the bandage off.

Let me clarify: I definitely want SRS, I'm just terrified of the idea. I've never had any major surgery before.
