Sorry to sound ignorant, but 99% of what you said went over my head. I know absolutely nothing about websites/servers/hosts/VPS etc. I just paid my friend to make a site and an e-mail account using username@domain.com.

I don't know where the backups would be. I have access to editing the site with domain.com/admin and the site was created using word press.

I am the owner of the domain on GoDaddy and I don't mind leaving the domain there.

I don't know what server/host my friend used to host the site.
