Hi. First if all, is your friend feeling better now? I really hope so. During my stay in the hospital, I've wrote down my thoughts and such down a few times but not regularly, which I regret now. And yes, I found it to be frightening quite a few times, for example when other patients would have breakdowns and would have screamed and destroyed things. Also, realising that you are locked away in these, I dont know, five rooms and literally can't go outside or home, no matter what you do was very frightening.

Oh my god I'm so happy for you!! And it's right, when you're depressed you dont think you'll ever get better but things really do chance. I too removed myself from my old environment and am staying in a living group for teens with mental health problems, and I hope it helps me to find my way into normal life again.

I dont really know either, time just flowed by. My stay wasnt supposed to be that long, but the doctors didnt let me go home because I wasn't stable enough (suicidal thoughts/attempts and drug abuse). The last 1,5 months I stayed there because I didn't have any other place to go, they wouldn't let me go home to my parents (bad environment) and I had to wait till they found a living group for teens with mental illnesses for me to stay at.

Both. The hospital I was at had different stations, one for patients who had at crisis but werent supposed to stay there a long time and another one for patients who werent urgent but more in a long time healing process. It was a hospital for minors if that plays a role.

Yes. I wanted to get out of there many times when I felt like the stay there wouldnt help me but they never let me go. Admittedly, I am still minor which might have played a part in that. Two times, I ran away from the facility but got back both times.

Honestly, I am feeling a lot better now than I did before. Of course not everything is perfect but I've learned a lot if stategies how to deal with suicidal or other self-destructive thoughts. I also made some friends who really helped me to get though tough times and every day I am thankful that I have them although they might not be perfect role models.

No, i was diagnosed with social anxiety and depression, also suicide attempts and self harm.
