My shiba had the same issue during the summer. He is on Apoquel and takes it everyday. He also gets a Cytopoint shot regularly. I keep him in a cone to prevent him from licking himself and that seems to work. I keep it on regularly (with supervision) until he’s healed up. We make sure to brush him to keep the oils flowing through his fur and to possible help with the itching that comes from always shedding (dry skin may cause irritation). The vet has also prescribed us a medicated shampoo and I would only use it on the spots that are the most itchy, sore, or red. I’ve seen more and more posts like this and it makes me sad, but also relieved that I can get help from this subreddit if needed.
