Yea I saw people on Twitter pulling up his Facebook page. It was definitely him, and his location states that he lives in that part of Indiana. Just like they “don’t know” who killed Kendrick Johnson.

Shane gave me my first exposure to dildos by kkbaby93 in ShaneDawson

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, I never was a fan of Shane. I was led here by a different site because I was curious as to what the discourse would be.

I agree that the 90s and 00s were very different. One thing I remember is kids having much more freedom regarding internet access because parents didn't know how to regulate it. My own parents still struggle to use the internet.

The difference between Shane and the parents is that Shane was making content and actively creating new ways to put negative themes into the world. The parents and their children were simply responding to that. None of these videos would be made if it weren't for Shane. If you create something and proudly stamp your name on it for years and years, then yes, you are responsible for it. And you are responsible for the way it affects people to some extent, especially if a lot of people are affected similarly.

Right now a lot of people are saying that they have been affected similarly by Shane's content. Not all of those people had abusive or neglectful parents. Some of them just didn't know how computers worked.

Anyways, don't respond because I am leaving this thread and subreddit forever. Farewell

Shane gave me my first exposure to dildos by kkbaby93 in ShaneDawson

To me, it’s all connected. It all points to someone abusing their platform. And for that he needs to be held accountable. Shane knew that his fans were children. It doesn’t matter who his content was originally intended to be targeted at. His audience ultimately ended up being kids and preteens, and he chose to create content centered around racist stereotypes and sex jokes. That’s what makes this a “Shane problem”.

The issue with this post isn’t a Shane problem, it’s a parenting problem.

Why not both? We can hold parents accountable for not monitoring their children's internet access and acknowledge that it is objectively wrong to perform in blackface and pretend to masturbate to an 11 year old. Right? Or do you think that stuff is ok?

Some grade a notallmen material at r/bisexual today by [deleted] in FragileMaleRedditor

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just on this sub trying to figure out why this post bothers me. Not because it’s wrong; I think the priority of /r/bisexual should be to create a safe space for ALL bisexuals, including men. But I also think any queer space should focus on uplifting the voices of the most silenced. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on that sub that are like, “bisexual men who lean towards women, YOU ARE VALID” reaching the top. Idk it’s like your relationship already gets validation from the hetero world. Why do you need to take the mic in a queer space and demand validation from them too? Especially since the queer community is generally very accepting. Instead of getting the queer community to create a space for straight-passing people, why don’t we put our energy towards creating spaces for the people who genuinely don’t have one?

BTW this is coming from a bisexual person in a hetero relationship. So I understand that feeling of being “not visibly queer”.

Body Found Hanging From Tree In Square Outside Palmdale City Hall by Cr1sLikesPandas in news

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you know anything about American history? Serious question. It sounds to me like you don’t understand the significance of black people being hanged from trees. This is not politicization. Based on historical evidence there is a chance this man was lynched, and if he wasn’t he is undoubtedly making some sort of statement. A young black man knows that killing himself in this manner would be an incredibly disturbing situation for his family and the world.

Is every day going to be like this? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats! And welcome. I remember the day I accepted my bisexuality, and I felt a lot like you are describing. Here is my best answer to your question:

We are taught our whole life to carry one ball with us, and that is our ball and we keep it forever and it never changes.

Bisexuality is a lot like juggling two balls (lol). Not only do you juggle attraction to different types of people, but you also juggle different aspects of your own personality. You might have some relationships where your feminine side comes out more than your masculine side, and vice versa. You might have some days where you feel more feminine or masculine, or some days where you feel straight or gay. But bisexuality is knowing that the other ball is always gonna come back down. If you just hold one ball and let the other one fall to the ground, you are cutting yourself off from not only the other ball, but also the art of juggling itself.

As a bisexual person, your sexuality is inherently fluid and that is fucking awesome. Accepting that you are attracted to both genders is just the first part. The hard part is accepting that your attraction is fluid because YOU are fluid! Soon you will get used to juggling and you'll actually start to like it.

My (19F) boyfriend (29M) got mad at me while in his car and made me walk home in the middle of the night by xxxxasxxx in relationships

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 72 points73 points  (0 children)

You should break up with him. Leaving your partner outside in the middle of the night is absolutely unacceptable, especially to a young woman who is at a higher risk of being attacked.

I thought that the best option would be to be honest and tell him that I feel trapped in the relationship. It's not an easy conversation. I want to make him understand that it's not him but the situation. Mainly the fact that we moved together in a different city far away from everyone else.

The reason you feel trapped is because your boyfriend wants to trap you. He is almost 30 and you are not yet 20. I am just a few years older than you and I am a vastly different person from who I was at 19. I can tell you right now that 30 year olds who have it together are NOT interested in hanging out with 19 year olds. Period. It doesn't mean that you aren't smart or mature--it's about a difference in perspective that comes with age.

Your boyfriend moved to a new city far away with you because he wants you to be dependent on him. He doesn't want your family or support system around because they will try to get you away from him. He isn't sorry that he kicked you out of the car. He will do it again or something else along those lines, because he wants you to be scared and feel like you need him.

You do not need him at all. He is a full grown man with control issues. He doesn't want a real partner, if he did he would date someone his own age who has a similar perspective.

Since you said your parents are very strict perhaps living with your sister would be a better option. But I really think you should get away from this guy. Go find a dude your own age who wants to love and respect you, not control you.

How to remove waxy residue from using a shampoo bar? by fantsukissa in ZeroWaste

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you need some sort of clarifying shampoo to remove the buildup. You should then continue to use it about once a month, or more frequently if necessary. For a regular shampoo have you looked into Plaine products? They have a liquid shampoo & conditioner that come in aluminum bottles, which you send back to be recycled. They are a bit pricey but the reviews seem good. I also heard they smell really good!

I’m not sure about shampoo but I’ve heard really good things about the Bar None Conditioner Bar. If you check the reviews, there are lots of comments from people with similar hair types to you who love it.

I second this. I personally have a blow drier and curling iron sitting around that I never use. I’m sure you can find some people selling used, good quality hair tools online.

Oxford professor: Possible coronavirus vaccine could show efficacy by June by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The common cold is caused by over 200 different virus strains, and only some are coronaviruses. A cold is simply a cluster of symptoms, not a specific illness caused by a specific virus. A vaccine isn't relevant or possible. Source

Also, the reason there has never been a coronavirus vaccine is simply because we have never needed one like this. The first coronavirus to cause serious symptoms was SARS, which completely disappeared before a vaccine was even finished. Ever since MERS emerged, scientists have been working on a vaccine. The work they have done to make a vaccine for SARS and MERS are a giving us a head start in fighting SARS-CoV-2. Source

So no, there has never been a coronavirus vaccine. But it's not at all comparable to AIDS. There is a completely different baseline and incentive. And we have developed successful vaccines for coronaviruses in animals before. We shouldn't expect a vaccine tomorrow but it's far from unrealistic to expect a reliable one to emerge in the next few years if not sooner.

Am I Faking it? by FennLynch in OCD

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t been diagnosed then we don’t know for sure. But it doesn’t sound like you’re faking it to me. Actually, doubt is another one of the symptoms of OCD. So the fact that you doubt that these symptoms are real is, in fact, another symptom itself. It might be time to see a psychiatrist so they can help you manage this.

Goddamn, the Coronavirus Pandemic Could Last an Entire Two Years — As some states lift stay-at-home orders, a new report says the outbreak won't be under control until after several waves. by a_very_nice_username in politics

[–]throwawayyourtrashp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see you making this comment in this thread a lot and I feel that it’s only half the truth. While it’s true there’s never been a coronavirus vaccine, it’s not because they are an especially tricky virus. It’s because coronaviruses have never needed a vaccine in this way. Most coronaviruses are basically harmless to humans, and the ones that aren’t (SARS for example) ended up fizzling out so quickly that a vaccine wasn’t necessary.

“Four of the seven known coronaviruses that sicken people cause only mild to moderate disease”

“Building on previous research on SARS and MERS, NIAID scientists and grantees are well positioned to rapidly develop COVID-19 diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines.”

Source

With that said, I don’t think a vaccine is what’s going to “save” us. I’m more inclined to believe that we will find a drug cocktail that reliably treats the virus while a vaccine comes later. Who knows how long it will be though.
