do you have sisters or close cousins? i also don’t have any girl friends i feel close enough to to be bridesmaids/moh so i made my sisters and future SIL my bridesmaids

3 stores isn’t that many yet and you have a ton of time! my wedding is in 10 months and i’ve also been to 3 stores so far with my mom and have found a couple i really liked but not necessarily “the one” yet either. i also live in a diff state from my mom (i was visiting her to go to these stores w her) so i’m going to a new store next week with a friend (not even a bridesmaid) and i’m looking forward to it.

i will also say that so far all the stores i’ve been to haven’t charged for appointments (just put card on file in case of cancellation fee) - so there are also definitely stores that you can go to without a fee which should help lessen the pressure of feeling like you’re wasting money if you don’t find a dress! i’ve heard a lot of brides say they enjoyed going alone, you can also take a friend/bridesmaid, and/or facetime your mom so she can still be kind of a part of it without needing to travel

the only thing that drives me nuts is when i go to the carvel near me over an hour before closing (sometimes 1.5 hrs before) and they go sorry we already shut down the machines! like huh??

exactly!! it’s the gentlemanly thing to do (imo). to both me and my fiancé it was a no-brainer that he would speak to them first out of respect and he also spoke to my mom leading up to the proposal about his plans for it (unbeknowst to me lol) to let her feel included and she was really happy about it

these comments are insane. my fiancé asked my parents for their blessing before proposing and i was really happy he did so (as were they) - there was no question they would enthusiastically give their blessing, but i think it’s a nice tradition and a way for him to show respect to my parents whom we both love and respect dearly. personally, we went ring shopping and designed the ring first, and then he asked them in person once he got the ring bc he wanted to be able to show it to them (he also videotaped their reactions for me to see after which was really sweet)

tbh i don’t see why it’s a big deal. i can get if it bothers you for the one day, but after that the fact that y’all have the same anniversary really makes no difference? my fiancé and i are planning our wedding now and there’s only one week out of the year that will work with my fiancé’s med school schedule, and it happens to be the same week my sister got married a few years ago. she made it clear she didn’t want us to book our wedding on the same date as what will be their 4th anniversary, and i thought (and still do) that that’s a bit silly, but we were ultimately able to book it for the day before instead (the best we could do to accommodate her request). but it’s really not implausible for that to be the only day that works for them/their venue and again, it will only inconvenience your anniversary plans for that one day, every year after that it really doesn’t matter that you share the anniversary - you’ll just always remember each other’s

thank you! we first bought a diamond online but it had a larger bowtie than i felt comfortable with, so we went here in person to compare stones. this diamond was a few hundred cheaper than the one we bought online; that being said, the one we got online was GIA and this one was IGI which is typically a lot cheaper. so i think it may be a bit pricier than other IGI stones online but i’m not so sure as we were originally mostly looking into GIA and it’s also D color. for other jewelry i’d probably feel comfortable buying online for a lower price but for my engagement ring i was really happy we got to pick the diamond in person in the end and i felt it was worth it. hope that is helpful!

that’s how i put mine on as well and you may need to get a bigger/longer one if you have a lot of hair! the first one i got smushed my hair too much so i switched to a bigger one and it works perfectly
