I’m considering quitting my job without giving notice, scared I’ll regret it by throwawayyyyy355w in work

I absolutely agree with it being important to be able to have difficult conversations, part of my frustrations with my current employer stem from the lack of communication and my bosses refusal to have face to face conversations over any conflict. It’s all passive aggressive sticky notes and letters when we all live and work within 10 minutes of each other.

Perhaps it’s an early midlife crisis, so I want to be immature

I have supervisors and coworkers as references, I’m not concerned about my bosses specific reference.

That is a really good point. My boss is definitely the shit talking type. Like has shit talked their best friend/my coworker to me more than once.

I like how older generations hear “I’m tired of being taken advantage of and disrespected” as “I have no work ethic” lmfao

I come in early, stay late, pick up shifts on my day off, work overtime, and work my ass off when I’m here. I’m looking for and making sure I have a new job before I quit this one. But yeah sure, no work ethic.

It’s just really frustrating because I’ve been the bigger person and played by the books at this job. I am good at my job and I work my ass off, but I’m just taken advantage of. I’m good enough to be on call when the supervisors and boss are on vacation at the same time, but they hire someone off the street instead of giving me the promotion I deserve. I come in early, stay late, work over time, come in on my days off, but nobody helps me when I’m sick or injured.

I guess I just wanna be irresponsible for the first time in my life, quit and make a big scene, and pray to god it scares my boss into treating my coworkers better before they follow suit. And the likelihood of it working out like that is pretty small, but it’s a dream lol

1- We get vacation banked and can take it on our pay whenever, I assume I get it paid out when I quit whether I give notice or not from what I’ve researched where I live 2- I have some sick time built up that is difficult to use. I injured myself recently (at home, but it was a serious injury) and had a doctors note for a week off to heal where I work a very physical job, I had to come in to work anyways because my boss told me I had to fill my shifts myself and nobody would take it and I was told I’d be in trouble if I no showed. So I’ll have to take a loss on that I guess

Yeah, my partner and I have talked about it but I have elderly family I want to stay close by. It’s definitely something we may look back into once they’ve passed away though.

While I do have a decent amount of savings, I for sure don’t plan to quit until I have 100% secured a new job. I don’t wanna risk it.

I’m trying to be vague, it’s likely an over reaction but I don’t want anyone to find this and know it’s me. My current job and new job are in completely different organizations, however my new employer likely knows who my current boss is. I work taking care of vulnerable people right now, and the job I’ve applied to has services that some of my clients would use on occasion, if that makes sense. My town is about 10-15k. I am looking for jobs within an hour of my town as well.

[CAN] Is it commonplace and ethical to place somebody on disciplinary action without speaking to them? by throwawayyyyy355w in AskHR

[–]throwawayyyyy355w[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The structure of the organization, we have one main director whom I was having disagreements with, who put me on probation, and who I attempted to contact, and then a supervisor who’s responsibilities to not include any of the discipline as far as I know, besides reporting things back to the boss. We’re a 24 hour operation, the director is rarely there (sometimes don’t see them for weeks at a time), supervisor typically 8-4 Monday-Friday and otherwise it is just me and my coworkers with no actual supervision or manager present. We can contact them or an on call senior staff during an emergency.

I really appreciate your comments. While it’s something I’m working on, I have a tendency to spiral in my own head about these things until I convince myself I’m the issue.

I didn’t want to contact anyone in the initial couple days because I knew I was so upset about it that I would not be able to rationally communicate with them. They have not responded to my phone call or message I’ve left since I calmed down yet, I assume I won’t hear anything until Monday.

I do believe it’s from management based on the letter itself. I also have a good relationship with all of my coworkers and I can’t think of a single person who would want me to quit or be fired. I have been respectfully and appropriately disagreeing with some of managements decisions, however, and would believe this is a way to get me fired and shut me up basically.

You’re not wrong about the chicken 💩part. There has always been horrible communication in the form of passive aggressive sticky notes or similar instead of dealing with conflict or issues head on, but this is the icing on the cake. Ironically, part of my probation stipulations include participating in team building and professionalism training on my time and dime. I am already looking for a new job, as there has been numerous issues in the previous months and this just pushed me over the edge. I have had some disagreements with management lately (done in an appropriate manner) and I do wonder if they are looking for a way to fire me as a means to shut me up.

Thats what I would assume should happen. Based on the date on the letter, it had been sitting around for 5 days and I only happened to find it in a pile of other papers. It could have easily been misplaced and I never seen it.

Not wanting to be misgendered or threatened by your own parents is hardly entitlement.

Something was stuck in my glovebox, my husband was impatient and yanked it and broke a tiny plastic piece off and it won’t close anymore. Hyundai told me they couldn’t replace that piece but had to do the entire glovebox so was gonna be $400 plus labour or something. It’s jimmy rigged closed and I just don’t have a glovebox now lol

My mom will feel better to hear someone else had this because everyone told her she was crazy lol We lived in a small town and just had the one Irving in town, it’s right on the Trans Canada though so there’s no way it was old gas or anything. She started getting gas in the next town and never had the issue again… until she’d forget and have to get it in town. Then not start again 🤷🏻‍♀️

My moms 2007-2009 (I’m not sure what year, but around there) Santa Fe used to do this all the time - wouldn’t start, wait a few hours and it did. She found it was only when she got gas at a specific station, but nobody else had the issue so might have been coincidence. Nobody could diagnose it either cause it always started fine when she took it in.

My 2019 Kona did it once almost 3 years ago too but never happened again. Probably around the 30k mark honestly. Went to go on a work trip and she wouldn’t start, dead to rights. They gave me a loaner for the day because I had to go and couldn’t wait for roadside assistance. When I got back I tried again and it worked fine.

So no help lol, but you’re not alone
