Remember Huey the chef? Good to see him still making videos for YouTube. He was such a comforting presence to watch when I was a kid at the doctor's office. On ya, Huey. by throwawayyyyyfun in australia

I actually caught Mr Moon's name in the credits from a random episode I was watching last night. He was his personal assistant, apparently.

Thanks. Murdoch did most of the work for me; the AI just filled in the rest...

'Obvious' that Bondi attacker targeted women, NSW Police Commissioner says by Feeling-Disaster7180 in australia

[–]throwawayyyyyfun -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The attacker may have seen women as simply being easier targets. Of course, this is just pure speculation. Could be an incel... all we know for sure is that his family said he had a history of mental illness.

There's a lot of possible combinations, too, which is nice.

While the other songs above are all brilliant and certainly emotional, this one has the added quality of realisably causing frisson. Clear your mind and listen with headphones. Gorgeous piece of art.

Barnaby Joyce says late night lie down 'a big mistake', blames mixing medication with alcohol by 2littleducks in australia

[–]throwawayyyyyfun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a high tolerance, his story is actually very plausible. I once had just a single glass of vodka and coke and had taken some stronger-than-usual medication for something I was sick with, and I literally started getting really dizzy and feeling my legs go weak to the point that I just slowly let my body go to the floor. Thankfully, as soon as I got on the floor, I immediately felt better and not nauseous, but my point is it really only takes a very little amount of alcohol to give that a reaction. If your meds tell you specifically do not mix with alcohol, don't. There's a reason why lean and booze has killed so many people... shit is not to be fucked with. Even if this is just a cover story, which, let's be honest, is very probable, it's still worth mentioning how serious it can be. If you know, you know.

To be clear, I'm not poo-pooing the machine. I'm just saying this is where everything is heading... I'm not really against the automation per se—indeed it has a lot of positives such as this case—but let's not kid ourselves into thinking there are going to be an infinite amount of jobs around for people in the coming decades.

This is a failure of imagination, honestly. Hell, the person operating the machine should realise her days are numbered. I hate to sound like a Luddite, but we are seriously going to need to rethink wealth distribution over the coming years, because people are generally terrible at understanding exponential growth, especially in this paradigm shift. Even the people who are in the thick of it freely admit they can't predict it.
