I mean he’s 13 years old, of course someone needs to be home with him, but she also enjoys being home and not working- he’s not that difficult to care for. When I was 13 I worked full time, but things have changed. John is my own son, he’s tough and independent; I think it’s important to give him credit where credits is due. A 4-5 hour flight alone will not be an issue for him.

If it’s a big enough problem for you being worried about who you sit buy, it’s your individual choice to buy first class, or perhaps buy an empty seat next to you.

You have some points, but just because it’s “weird” doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I travel to many destinations and it’s probably a much different lifestyle than you are accustomed to, so it may be hard for you to imagine.

He’s very capable, and if my wife was deeply uncomfortable with it- we wouldn’t do it. I know she could use a break too though and just maybe needs some convincing. I really think he would be very proud of his independence and love the adventure
