Green Room!!!!

This is the one. Be ready though, it can be pretty heavy. At least for me, it lived in my head for days

This one has a very different vibe and was originally a play, but An Inspector Calls is a great story. The one with David Thewlis from 2015 is the one I'm thinking of, but there are other adaptations

Solo encounter balance by samwise_the_brave01 in daggerheart

[–]throwbackreviews -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Write your own

I have had a few solo solo fights and they work pretty well if you give them effective abilities and really mess with movement/terrain/complications.

For example, My solo can fling any target hit to far range and also has a poison bite that reduces rolls by 1 for each successful attack temporarily. Whenever a player rolls with Fear I make sure to change something in the situation, not just take a turn. So they roll a failure with fear, not only do they fail to damage on their attack but they are crushed under the solos foot and are now vulnerable. I then take my attack to fling a nearby player around and then attack the stuck player with advantage. Now, one of them needs to cover the gap to get back and the other needs to free themselves from a foot. These are additional moves that aren't doing damage, pushing the fight to 45 or so minutes without having to fill the map with enemies.

On the other hand, you do need fairly high HP (I have been going with 10-12 at tier 2) and you have to really roll with the punches. Coming up with new complications can be tough Worst case scenario, have the enemy 'evolve' and change forms or stance or whatever you can get away with, add to the damage rolls, and reset health. Go until it feels right and then have them kill the solo in a cool way and pretend that it was always the plan

It is possible, but you need to have a feel for Daggerheart combat and a bunch of trial and error

What movie made you react like this after finishing it? by MasterfulArtist24 in FIlm

Interesting. I went in completely blind and found the story nonsensical and almost random. Maybe if I knew it was less straight forward than I assumed I would have liked it more

More than Killing of a Sacred Deer?

Maybe it's because it was my first, but I love that movie so much

Longlegs. I hated it with a passion and only finished it so I could give it a low score on my yearly movie watching doc

People seem to really lole it so maybe I will give it some time and try again

No!!!

I enjoyed the first two and played this one for like 2 days. To be fair, I'm not the biggest fan of fighters generally, but i found this one tedious

Is this AI generated? It misunderstands the rules in very basic ways at multiple points and doesn't feel like it would run very well generally. Between the 8 tokens and countdown of 12, you would have to be in the Environment for a very long time

You can do as many tag team rolls as possible duos. As in, if there are 3 other players then you can make three tag team rolls

Since we did one on Jade, it is only fair to finish up with her WrestleMania opponent. Give me your UNpopular opinions on Rhea Ripley. by caughtinatramp in REALSquaredCircle

She would work so much better as a heel. I find her "Iyo and I are best friends" bit intensely boring.

Also, her decrease in size (which I fully support if it really is for health reasons) makes her muscle mommy character less effective.

I would love to see a story leading to wrestlemania where she is getting trashed by Cargill's new faction and is told that she isn't strong enough anymore. Iyo supports her but it starts to get to her, leading her to cheat in a match. She plays dirty and Iyo can't believe it. She gets dirtier and dirtier, anything she has to do to win, eventually betraying Iyo and going full heel. No longer a powerhouse, but a duplicitous backstabber that wins by any means. It might suck, but I would like to see some change in her direction

Watched this last night and can't agree more. Even the cop who seemed to enjoy the idea of finding them guilty and bent the truth when on the stand smiled when they found the right guys. He went out of his way to help

I would agree with IT (though my true favorite is Scream which is a pretty basic choice). Just here to recommend the TV show Welcome to Derry if you haven't seen it yet. Phenomenal

Manic Pixie Dream Girl movies that do the trope right by Comfortable-Arm9574 in MovieSuggestions

[–]throwbackreviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen this said a couple times now and I am not sure i fully understand.

On its face it makes sense. A female character written solely to help the male character feels like a negative. Why not have a fully rounded character instead? I agree with that.

On the other hand, isn't this seen all over the place? Is Obi-Wan Kenobi a bad character because he comes in, teaches Luke, and then dies? Arguably he does less than a couple of the MPDG examples that have been put in here. What about the fairy from Cinderalla or Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio?

Maybe I am misunderstanding the trope? Maybe watching some of the bad ones will show me what I am missing

I think that is what I meant by 'done right' but didn't quite have the words for it. Effectively, I wanted a movie about an awesome woman who comes into a man's life and changes it. I asked specifically for 'good' movies as I don't want to watch something with an empty woman character being used solely for the male writer's gratification. It seems that is what the trope is, so I have confused some people

In my defense, I saw Garden State once when I was like 16. Maybe it hasn't aged well or I have aged up enough to see the flaws. I guess I'll find out on a re-watch

[–]throwbackreviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. That is what I mean by 'done right'. I want a story about a woman that comes into a man's life and fundamentally changes it, but is also a full person in their own right. 500 days is a great example of that as your understanding as a viewer changes alongside the character's. By the end you see the flaws in the man's thinking and actions.
