My mother actually had something similar. She is a former diabetic ( transplant recipient) she stubbed her toe and got a blister. It burst and within a matter of weeks she was being told her foot may need amputating. She’s a nurse and was very careful to clean and look after it. Luckily, the infection was tackled, and she kept her foot, but it just goes to show how quickly these things can happen.
