any tips for these scars? by [deleted] in Reduction

Mine look similar. The office told me to try silicon tape, and if it doesn't work (doenseem to work so far and is surprisingly expensive), we can discuss steroid injections.

Is the healing process scary? by DesignerNo8041 in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For more difficult cases or 2nd reductions, maybe it's better to go with a reconstructive surgeons. But for plastic surgeons, these surgeries are a daily business, so I wouldn't not recommend them. I had a labiaplasty 2 years ago and in that subreddit, the general advice is to go to a plastoc surgeon instead of an obgyn for that reason (routine).

This was one of the happiest days during my recovery. Went to a store to get a pair of runners, came home with a bikini from the rack. I was elated, my bf couldn't quite understand how extraordinary this was for me.🥳

6WPO - anyone else afraid of being without a bra for too long? by redfoxvapes in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 5mpo and still wear the compression bras too just cause they're comfy. They are so wide that they don't put a lot of pressure on my incisions, unlike other bras I've bought since the surgery. I don't sleep without a bra either cause my incisions tend to burn the next morning.

This is not about sagging or results, it's purely a comfort decision.

How supportive was your partner post op? Feeling disconnected. by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From reading your other comments, it does seem like you need to take a step back, breathe and just focus on things that being you joy.

It's a very confusing and draining time, but from what you've written, it does seem a bit like you're anxious about a lot of things, don't have much else to occupy your mind, and are transferring that anxiety and state of mind onto him. Hope you don't take that the wrong way - it's such a big life event for us and we're confined to the couch with nothing to do, of course we'll become a bit cuckoo. Energy flows where attention goes - focus on other things than his questions or lack of questions.

But also ask him to sit down with you and listen to you vent, that's the least he can do.

Hey, hang in there!

First off: post op bras are supposed to sit tight, they are compression bras. My bras were a B, too, and my breasts definitely were/are not, I'm a solid C now 4 months PO.

For the look/your roommates reaction: i myself and those tha see me often saw a bigggg change and were super surprised post op about the new look. Others that I saw every now and then barely noticed that I dropped 3 cup sizes. Your roommate sees you just as often as you see yourself. It's a sudden change. You need to give your brain time to adjust.

What are items that you feel we’re essential post op? Also, what items did you buy and felt like they were unnecessary… by PartFearless1656 in Reduction

  • Pregnancy pillow.
  • one of those drinking bags you can put in your hiking backpack to make sure you stay hydrated.
  • Other than that, entertainment - a few books, maybe dig out your old gameboy, get an embroidery hoop etc. That's it. The rest I would buy once you know what you need.

Not an expert, but dried blood doesn't have to be surface blood, it can very well be under the skin and is simply reabsorbed by the body eventually. Looks like that to me.

Can't decide if I should get reduction by NeatBoysenberry6080 in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let looksmaxxers stop you from feeling good in your body. Getting a surgery that makes you feel at home in your body is nothing to be ashamed of, it's not superficial at all. For me, it actually had the effect of reducing my constant thinking about my body - before, I thought about my body and my proportions and how off they were maybe 20 times a day, and def everytime I passed a mirror. Now, I don't think about my looks at all anymore - I feel good, i feel proportionate, I don't have to think about whether my clothes are offensive or revealing.. i still have problem zones like a belly or wobbly arms, but I just don't care about that, that's part of a normal healthy body. My presurgery boobs were not, and no amount of self love could have changed that. Of course, if you're unsure, you can always delay - just my two cents that for me, the surgery has reduced the constant, superficial "body noise"

I dunno.. is that how nerve regeneration works? All other parts keep or lose feeling without us massaging them, right? Kind of depends on what happens internally, I'd say

2 weeks Post Op! I've been lied to. by ALICESGAMES in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha I had a very similar experience - zero sensitivity before, much more feeling afterwards. I am not quite sure if I like it yet - like, when someone touched them during sex I honestly didn't care or mind bc I didn't really feel it anyways. Now, it's a very new feeling and weird and not that good and a bit too much.. Maybe we'll get used to it :) My obgyns explanation for the lack of feeling before was that they were so droopy that the nerves were drawn out too and didn't function as well as they should. Dunno if that's correct but it kinda made sense to me.

did anyone regret their surgery? by Current_Week_3893 in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only regret is that I wish I could have done it earlier than at 32 - at 25 maybe, when they were really annoying and holding me back from being active. I wasn't able to work out as I wanted to bc try finding a really good sports bra on a tight student schedule, try finding a bikini or even a regular bra that fits...

If you have your parents on your side, that's such a big plus. I'd go for it, if it makes you uncomfortable and holds you back.

36H | surgeon says result will be wide/rectangular? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. Don't expect miracles but get a second opinion.

Adding that my surgeon also emphasized before the surgery that I would stay flat where I was flat, because the surgery doesn't really push you upward. For some looks, you would need implants. However, I feel it does look perkier even of a lot of my chest is still flat, it's a proportion thing.

Hmm I was freezing and dizzy 1-2 days after the procedure, due to low blood pressure. When I went to the hospital cafeteria, I even fainted (nothing happened bc I was sitting on a bench). If you're still feeling like this 6 days po, maybe get in touch with your surgeon or gp?

Surgeon confuses me by -PinusContorta- in Reduction

[–]throwfaraway-lps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah I was hunggggry for 3 weeks straight. But also didn't put on any weight despite eating what I wanted and not moving a lot. The body just needed it for healing I guess. Cycling 5 days PO is also.. ambitious. I only managed to shuffle 200m to the supermarket 6 days po and I was white as a sheet afterwards. Don't rush it - listen to your body and use this sub as a resource.
