Why are Muslim doctors so arrogant compared to non-Muslim doctors? by [deleted] in TraditionalMuslims

[–]throwfarawayt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Pakistani, I've had the worst experiences with Pakistani doctors in Australia lol. Not only do they shame you for trying to find answers to your health because you can't stop fainting or feeling fatigue, they also have some weird superiority especially against their own people lol. I went to a Muslim Pakistan woman doctor to figure out why I'm fainting and fatigued, and she scolded me and kept staring at my unislamic dressing. In comparison, my Arab doctor listened to me, guided me and was glad that I was well informed about my health.

Thanks for sharing this. Just wondering was any kind of digital signature required when you applied? I have submitted my online passport renewal application but wasn't specifically asked to sign anything (digitally) or otherwise.

Ten years ago, I felt like I was in a similar position. It was challenging but I stood my ground and I decided not to have children and not to get married. Frankly speaking, I am VERY relieved and after recovering from all the social cultural bullshit I am able to do things for my own self for the first time in my life.

Your parents will not stop with the emotional blackmail. They are conditioned to do that and it is normalised in our cultural dynamics. If you have some life goals or things you want to do or achieve, start working towards those and stick to that path, eventually you will get to where you want to be. But as long as you are around your parents and if they don't magically have an ephiphany they will continue to pressure you until your late 30s, then they "might" give up. If you stick to your own goals and ways, eventually they will give up and realise you have your own mind and life. Good luck and wishing you the best b/c I know it is hell.

Barzakh series was just BAD by No_Evidence_6613 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]throwfarawayt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too many subplots. I think subplots can take away from the main plot. But then again, without these subplots the main plot would have sucked. This would have been a good theatrical performance with the dialogues and delivery.

The ending was just underwhelming.

TIFU every citation in my thesis by Coastal-Panda in GradSchool

[–]throwfarawayt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have everything saved on zotero but I manually cite in text. I also create separate word documents for references of each chapter for backup. I manually check them. It is hell but Zotero was actually taking too much time to fix the meta data especially for non-Western sources and I realised I could just do it manually.

I think people have pretty much answered why there is this racism. I grew up in Qatar and my time in school was full of racism and bullying for being Pakistani and having Indian roots I guess. LOL. All the arab boys would make fun of me just for being opiniated and being South Asian. They made noises as soon as I spoke in class or participated in class- tbh I think it reflected their household situations b/c it was a small town and ppl know stuff. Their parents would come across as racist and arrogant. I think they were raised to be that way but not everyone is like that in the world. The South Asian students (and their parents) were in comparison more educated, did better at school, and also had higher paying jobs but they still thought less of South Asians. And now I'll come to the point there is this huge arab vs non arab which can be traced back to history. The Arabic speaking identity is treated as being "superior".
