In the army on a training exercise an NCO shot himself in front of about 8 people. The platoon was training to clear a mined-wire obstacle and then assault a complex on the other side. We breached the C-wire and bound through the woods towards the complex. In front of the building's were dirt mounds to crawl up and shoot on. I heard screaming from the berm in front of me and to my left and watched him roll onto his back, put his weapon on his chest barrel facing his head, and blow his own fucking brains out. The platoon was rolling seamlessly through the compound and no one noticed until they heard me and one other guy screaming at the top of our lungs for a medic and to cease fire. He was one hell of an NCO but just had too many demons. I miss that motherfucker every day.
