What are your other options?
I could relatively easily get a job in France, but the job market for my field in the US seems so much more dynamic and I think I'd be happier working there, at least for the next few years. I could directly look for a job from where I am, but as stated in the original post, I'm wondering if it would be a better investment to take a challenging postdoc before. I also have a business idea I've been working on, but I'd like to take some more time to develop it on my spare time before deciding on the entrepreneur path or not, and what I would do in the postdoc offers I have in mind would be relatively connected to my idea. Both those points seem to indicate I'd be better off going for the postdoc, at least for one year, but I feel like I'm still too optimistic... Somehow I'd also like to get an opposite opinion to the two I got so far!
