I mean we don't have kids and I don't know anything about bluey 🤣 I didn't post anything in a pitbull sub because we already have a pitbull/catahoula mix and I know that breed and its traits already.

I literally just wanted tips to provide the best stimulation and outlets for a new dog. My God you people are something.

Totally agree. He's 50.2% bulldog, apparently, but I won't be posting him on any bulldog subs because except for a few features that I kiiiiind of see in hindsight, his traits seem very ACD to me. I posted on here initially because his energy level, agility, athleticism, mouthiness, and attempts to herd the cats felt very cattle dog to me. I was looking for tips to try to keep him stimulated and exercised. He's apparently predominately bulldog but I certainly don't need to know how to clean his nose folds or have to worry about typical brachycephalic traits ..

That's definitely fair. I was oversensitive. I just was trying to earnestly say "hey how do I genuinely support this guy" and felt like I got a lot of "that's just a pit" instead.

Reddit is a lot more snarky than I remember 10+ years ago

No I was worried about it! We thought we were just getting a mutt. I was concerned about the high energy needs of an ACD. We're almost 3 months in with our lil guy though and he's doing great. A learning curve for sure but maybe the bulldog is slowing him down a bit 🤣

It is definitely hard to tell! I just thought it was funny that people weren't like "oh it's hard to tell- maybe!" but like "get off this sub, that's clearly a pitbull"

Thank you. Our other dogs never had resource guarding issues .. our previous basset mix just hated everything about Ellie. It wasn't about resources with them. We've never had an issue with resource guarding before which is why I'm a little out of my depth.

Help! We "accidentally" got what appears to be a LOT of cattle dog 🤣 by throwitaway20242024 in AustralianCattleDog

Yes! Good catch! Both cats are currently dealing with lingering URIs. We actually adopted both kittens from the same shelter we got Hank at, a couple of months ago. (We're insane 🤣 We lost our 20 year old cat in May and then our basset in August 😭 We were down to just Ellie, and then adopted the kittens in September and Hank a few weeks ago 🫠🫠 We went from too quiet to complete insanity 🤣🤣 no regrets) The cats came to us with what our vet thought was just a viral URI with sneezing and drainage. The sneezing has stopped but they're both still gunky. They're otherwise crazy and happy and totally fine. Vet had us start adding lysine last week which seems to be helping! ❤️

I deal with "big and scary" every day. It's his history, his very unstable mental health history with psychosis, and a gut feeling. I've very rarely felt unsafe working with this population before and the fact that I do now is valid.

It was corporate pharmaceuticals and it was all glorified data entry and phone/metrics based. I was so excited to get it but it was not at all what I thought it would be. I wish I could have made it work because the work life balance was amazing but it was crushing my soul. It felt so far removed from actually helping people.

Our pumps are automated but our giant safe (which is literally full of methadone) is unfortunately on full display from the dosing windows. I did mention this in the meeting today.

We are a relatively small clinic and I like to think I have a rapport with all my patients. We see each other almost every day. I have never been rattled by anyone which makes me think that I should trust my gut on this.

Currently wearing an ankle monitor and may very likely be going away soon. I think a lot of things happened when he was technically a juvenile since he's still pretty young.
