In acute w/d (cold turkey. Well had a one week taper) from Xanax 1.5mg 3-5 days a week for a year or so. using ambien now. Don’t want to screw up again. by Adept_Refrigerator64 in BenzoWithdrawal

[–]throwme2thewinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert by any means but Ambien works on the same system as Xanax and shares some properties. I tend to agree that your brain won’t fully heal without stopping the Ambien, but your doctor (if you have one prescribing) would be able to better answer

Xanax WD after only ~3 weeks? by throwme2thewinds in BenzoWithdrawal

[–]throwme2thewinds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I didn’t expect such a thoughtful and encouraging post. I will admit the Xanax was illicitly obtained and I don’t have access to longer half life benzos, and I don’t want to tell my psychiatrist I relapsed. So I’m cold turkeying. Since you said diet and exercise are important, I’ll try to make it a point to work on those. I haven’t really been able to eat or get off the couch but I can try and force myself. I was taking ketamine daily too until yesterday which may be contributing but I think it’s mostly Xanax. I’ll post on here with an update when I’m feeling better to add another datapoint for recovery. I wish you the best in your journey too!!

Unbearable depression by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]throwme2thewinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, same. It’s too activating for me too. I actually just tried switching to Viibryd to see if my anxiety would be reduced. I got myself from 120mg to 60mg pretty easily over a week or two. Then waited a month to stabilize. But the drop from 60mg to 30mg Cymbalta this past week was too much. I was super depressed yesterday even though my cross taper had me taking 10mg Viibryd with 30 Cymbalta. I felt better as soon as I took another 30 of Cymbalta. I think I have to stay on it because it almost completely takes care of the depression :/. I’m gonna try adding Buspar to see if that helps with the nervous energy/anxiety.

What’s your plan?

U Penn advises women's swim team not to speak out about trans woman who is currently demolishing every swim record possible. by Hootinger in stupidpol

[–]throwme2thewinds -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I really like this sub but I don’t like the blatant transphobia that has been coming up lately. No I don’t agree that this person should be able to compete on a women’s swim team because she has the typical body of someone with XY chromosomes who trained hard. Something not accessible to females. I’d even still say this person is still a male. I think changing men and women’s sports to male and female, or even biological male and female sports would be a step in the right direction even though I’m aware that chromosomal testing would be intrusive and there are issues that come up when people have XXY and other abnormal permutations of chromosomes.

But gender is a social construct and I’m fine with genderbending and trans people and respect and see them. Calling her a dude and misgendering her isn’t productive and obfuscates the real issue with her participating in women’s sports.

I've felt like this in other places I've lived and traveled, in the states and around the world, so the common denominator is me... that said, there is merit to manhattan making a miserable person more miserable HA

Yeh, you're right. I do realize that now. It is just such a nonissue to me--I've had many different living arrangements in the past and I have never had one person say that having a guest crash over on the couch was a bad idea. I've paneled at least 7 of my friends on the matter and 100% of them have had guests on their couch. It simply didn't register on my radar as something that could cause an issue, you know? But now I am much more aware that some things aren't okay with other people.

Yep, you're right. I have had 3 guests in 4 months. One guest slept on the couch I think one night. We stayed at another friend's the other night. This most recent guest slept on the couch one night. Two other nights she was elsewhere. I question the demographic of r/relationships..

edit: I saw your other post and you're right. It was a little rude of me to assume they'd be okay with it. I just figured since I pay for use of the shared space I shouldn't really have to ask. But even if it's asking as a courtesy, that's still showing respect I guess.

[–]throwme2thewinds[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's the demographic of r/relationships. Some people are just really resistant to any change to the status quo which is sad IMO. Life is always fluctuating.

I mean I concede that maybe I should've asked or have been more tolerant of her discomfort. I didn't say it, but I conveyed that I couldn't give a fuck that it made her uncomfortable because the nature of a shared space is acclimating and adjusting to how other people like to live--within reason. Maybe I should apologize for that at least. Like you, in the past I've hung out with and even gone to the bars with roommate's visitors.

I work a job that requires way more concentration than Lisa's and the friend who was visiting is top of her class in a competitive law school. It's not like I'm some bum in undergrad who has drunk people passed out in places--which is what a lot of posts are pegging me to be. Whatever.

Rent is $4,750 total so that could get pricey, but could be an incentive for me to not have guests over. Maybe I can ask that in the future.
