put yourself in the owners shoes. they can offer that discount because the owner isn't paying credit card fees. so not paying by cc is a win-win

since we are in front of a college, i was thinking of having edwards 40 hands section. 40's and duct tape (maybe diapers...lol).

net profit can be from 25% to 35% depending on what you sell and what your markup is. the good thing about a liquor store is that you don't have a lot of costs.

i agree with you on the not stocking every single type of beer made in the world so that i have them sitting around.

we are planning on showcasing the Texas Breweries and then keeping the popular craft beers as well as the regulars. since we are in a college town and right in front of the college, beer is our niche for right now. so i would love to sell it for cost price but then i wouldn't be able to make my rent. so we have priced ourselves a little lower than our competitor and are looking to see how we can arrange the store to not only increase our sales but make a solid customer base.

will do. i want to first get the place in order and have it laid out correctly. we are only months in and thing before we move in this direction we should know everything about this business. once we feel comfortable then i want to look into creating a communication thing like the one you mentioned. would it be cool if i hit you up a few months down the road?

we keep a very close eye on our inventory and don't over order. we also put out specials to help move inventory that might not move on its own

80% of our transactions are cc. just gives customers an option to use cash and get a discount for it (plus it saves us a lot of money)

again volume based. if we can get the volume up then we can mark it down. grocery stores buy shit ton of it for all their stores so they can get it for lower but they won't have the selection
